Gabriel Jesus has brushed aside speculation linking Arsenal to a big-money move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the January transfer window, insisting he remains the best all-round man for the job at the Emirates.
Jesus has struck just once in eight games domestically in an injury-disrupted campaign and, with Toney’s betting ban ending on January 16, the Bees’ target man has been the name in the frame as an upgrade.
“This happens you know - maybe it can be agents talking about a lot of things,” said Jesus. “I am not the most experienced but I think I have seen a lot of things in football. It happened when I was at Manchester City. I was scoring a lot and people were linking everyone. Here, I don’t care about this.
"I know what my qualities are and I know what I can bring to the team. I can score and I can also help with other things. Those who don’t understand will say, ‘oh he didn’t score today’. But maybe I run and open space for someone.”
