Gareth Southgate speaks out on Euro 2024 sex noises as prankster takes credit

Gareth Southgate has spoken out after the Euro 2024 draw was sabotaged by a porn prankster. The live broadcast was disrupted on Saturday afternoon when sex noises started playing out loud from the audience.

David Silva, who was drawing a name out of the pot, when the noises started playing, attempted to keep a straight face as he plucked out Switzerland to join Germany and Hungary in Group A. "There is some noise here..." the draw's host said during a pause in the broadcast, but once it cleared up he added: "No noise anymore..."

Practical joker Jarvo69, real name Daniel Jarvis, who was responsible for the Match of the Day prank less than a year ago, claims he was behind the gaff.

Jarvis uploaded a video on X of him seeming to activate a device in the venue of the draw over in Hamburg. Speaking in the video Jarvis said: "We are live, here we are in Germany, Hamburg, where we are doing a prank live on the Euro 2024 draw. Sorry man I am so f***ing pumped, and I'm just excited for it."

"Tell us we ain't the best pranksters in the world!" Jarvis added in a fit of laughter. "You heard it here first, this is live, we've done this. Listen that was us that! get it out, we got in there, we put the phone in there we rung it, sex noise at the Euro 2024 draw, love you guys!"

However, Southgate didn't take much notice of the crude joke. “Yeah... I heard something and putting two and two together I'm assuming there's some sort of prank going on but I couldn't really make out what it was," he said.

England were drawn in a favourable group alongside Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia. The Three Lions missed out on the major banana skins in pots two, three and four and will kick off their campaign at the Waldstadion, Frankfurt on June 20 against Denmark.

The odds aren't insurmountable for Wales either providing they get through their playoff fixtures. Rob Page's men have been drawn in Group E with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.

Meanwhile, Scotland were drawn in a group with Germany, Hungary and Switzerland. As they plucked out at A2 the Tartan Army will play the hosts in the opening game of the tournament on June 14.
