Cole Palmer suffers toe-curling interview as Tim Sherwood attacks Chelsea to his face

[ NEW BOARD GAME ]

Palmer has been Chelsea's principal goal threat since completing a £40million move from Manchester City last summer. With 19 goal contributions in 23 appearances, the attacking midfielder is the Londoners' top scorer and assister in the Premier League this term.

His hot streak continued on Monday as he set up Nicolas Jackson's opener and fired in at the near post early in the second half. Mykhaylo Mudryk made sure of the points with a superb solo effort, rendering goals from Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy meaningless.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino and his players have faced the wrath of fans and pundits over the course of the season, with Chelsea's expensively assembled squad languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League.

And Sherwood pulled no punches when laying into the Blues during a bizarre post-match interview with Palmer, telling him: "All you need is some players to play with. I know you can't say that, but I'm saying it.

"For me, [Pochettino] needs to build the team around you, with the quality you have. But that will come with a few transfer windows, hopefully, once he gets the right players in."

The former Tottenham boss fluffed his lines against an inexperienced Liverpool side in the Carabao Cup final last month, with the Reds striking late in extra-time to clinch the trophy.

Another deep run in the FA Cup could be crucial as Chelsea prepare for this weekend's quarter-final against Leicester City, with Palmer once again primed to play an important role.
