Saka is a shoo-in to start on the right wing under Gareth Southgate at Euro 2024, but he also has the important matter of a Premier League and Champions League run-in to contend with between now and the start of this summer's tournament.
It was announced on Thursday that Saka would be returning to Arsenal as a precaution, with an England statement reading: "Bukayo Saka has left the Three Lions camp and returned to his club for continued rehabilitation on an injury he reported to St. George's Park with."
The development comes a matter of hours after an episode of The Overlap was released, in which Neville discussed the unique nature of March international friendlies.
The former right-back claims legendary ex-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson frequently pulled his top players out before the vital last few weeks of the campaign. Arsenal, City and Liverpool are currently separated by a single point with only 10 games to play.
"I said it a couple of weeks ago, it would be interesting to see how many City, Arsenal and Liverpool players [are pulled out]," said Neville. "Already [Kevin] De Bruyne is out! I think it's a really badly-placed international break, in the midst of a title run-in.
"I feel good and am ready to play the match," he said in a press conference. "I'm feeling fine. I didn't walk off the training. I don't know who wrote that. I trained a full training session."
Arsenal's first match back after the international break is against City at the Etihad Stadium. A win would put them four points ahead of Pep Guardiola's side, although Liverpool can remain within touching distance by beating Brighton at home on the same day.
