Michael McIntyre's popular BBC game show The Wheel has been embroiled in controversy after some fans suggested that the questions had been rigged.
Some viewers who tuned in at the weekend have been left up in arms over Michael McIntyre's The Wheel and have since accused BBC producers of "fixing" questions to help one competitor triumph.
On Saturday night's episode of The Wheel, Leeds mother-of-two Hala took home a whopping £21,500 after answering the final question. Earlier in the episode, Hala had expressed her intention to spend any prize money on her second wedding - which was warmly embraced by the audience and celebrity stars in the studio.
Hala shared her emotional story on the programme, outlining she'd been hospitalized over a decade ago after suffering an unusual condition that left her unable to walk.
She explained that her first wedding took place at her hospital bed and she wanted to win big so that she could walk down the aisle like she'd always dreamed, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Speaking to Michael on the programme, she revealed that if she were to win, she'd be using all of the funds for her special day. It appeared to be Hala's lucky day because she did in deed win big.
Despite the joyous ending for Hala and her family, some spectators online were doubtful as they dubbed the programme a "fix", further blasting that the question had been "fiddled" to benefit Hala.
Hala's fate rested on identifying the Beatles' bassist, with four options available. Luckily, she could consult celebrity guest Jonathan Ross, who assuredly claimed to know the answer.
He even shared a personal anecdote, saying: "I once visited his home and played his bass. That's how confident I am! " - confirming Paul McCartney as the correct choice.
When Paul was confirmed as the correct answer, an overwhelmed Hala thanked host Michael, exclaiming: "This will change my life." However, some viewers on social media suspected that the emotional moment on BBC's The Wheel was staged.
One X user (formerly Twitter) commented: "Anyone else think this is fixed? The way Michael has been bigging up Hala it was obvious she'd get to the last question. #TheWheel."
Another user added: "The last question was ridiculously easy." Not everyone was cynical, though. Many viewers were genuinely moved by Hala's journey and happy to see her win the cash for her wedding.
One comment read: "I don't care if they fiddled it for Hala to win. I'm just so very happy she did." Others shared the same sentiment, with one user posting: "I don't think I've *EVER* been so happy that someone won a television quiz show."
Another user chimed in: "Thrilled for Hala. Sobbing at her reaction the second Jonathan said he knew the answer."
The Wheel airs on BBC One on Saturdays from 08:30pm.
