BBC's Laura Kuenssberg viewers 'switch off' within minutes as they make same demand

Laura Kuenssberg sparked complaints just minutes into her self-titled show as BBC viewers announced they were switching off.

The presenter, 48, was missing from Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg last week and was replaced by Victoria Derbyshire. Returning to her show today, Kuenssberg was joined in the studio by Stephen Fry, Zanny Minton Beddoes and Simon Hart.

But just minutes into the programme, viewers rushed to social media to share their frustration as they demanded Kuenssberg be permanently replaced by Derbyshire.

"Oh gawd @bbclaurak is back - bring back @VictoriaLIVE," wrote one viewer as another posted: "Can't help thinking Laura watched Victoria Derbyshire last week and thought "I can do that"......and is showing us this morning that she can't."

A third echoed: "Does anyone want Laura Kuenssberg to remain as presenter of the Sunday Morning Politicial Show? We pay the ridulous wages of these people and we should be allowed a say surely Victoria Derbyshire is a SERIOUS Journalist."

Another shared: "Laura just talking at the same time as the guests really doesn’t lend well to the viewer. Get Victoria Derbyshire back!"

A fifth agreed: "Looking forward to Tory Laura interrupting and rudely talking over the top of her THREE Tory guests like she is with BP. #bbclaurak needs to be permanently replaced by Victoria Derbyshire asap."

Someone else added: "I'm not watching this anymore. Bring back Victoria Derbyshire."

Later in the programme, it wasn't Kuenssberg who enraged viewers as education secretary Bridget Phillipson came under fire. The Labour politician was quizzed on Donald Trump's accusation that Keir Starmer has done nothing to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Phillipson responded: "I think that president Trump is right to draw attention to the fact that any lasting settlement where it comes to peace for Ukraine must involve European allies, including Britain stepping up and playing a bigger contribution."

She added: "What we are clear about is how we as a nation alongside our European allies can play a bigger role in defence and security on the continent."
