Hollywood favourite Lily Collins has become a parent for the first time as she announced the arrival of her first child this week.

The Emily in Paris favourite, 35, revealed on Friday night (January 31) that she had welcomed a baby via surrogate with her doting husband and film director Charlie McDowell, 41.

The happy couple, who have been together since 2019, shared the joyous news with their loyal legion of fans in a joint post on Instagram post.

Alongside an adorable snap of the newborn baby, they wrote: "Welcome to the centre of our world Tove Jane McDowell. Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again..."

The name Tove, according to Ancestry UK, has its origins in Scandinavia. It's said to be derived from the Old Norse word tfa or tofi, meaning beautiful, and is also associated with the Norse god Thor, representing strength and protection.

The newborn tot sharres their middle name Jane with Lily, who is the daughter of musician Phil Collins and his ex-wife Jill Tavelman. Phil isn't Tove's only famous grandparent as Charlie is the son of actors Malcom McDowell and Mary Steenburgen. And Mary is now married to Ted Danson.

The exciting news of Tove's arrival was met with well wishes from fans and fellow stars online. Ashley Park - who stars alongside Lily on Netflix's Emily in Paris - wrote: "Mom and daddddd [heart emoji]."

Jordana Brewster added: "Congratualtions" as Jaime Winstone replied: "Wow wow wow! Mama, huge congratulations to you and hubby! Beautiful Tove. So happy for you."

Sarah Hyland chimed in with: "I'm sobbinggggg" alongside a heart-eyes emojij. Meanwhile other fans showered the couple with messages of love.

One person commented: "Oh my goodness, wow! Huge congratulations to you both! And what a beautiful name. Couldn't be happier for you all." Whilst another fan said: "Omg Lily! Congratulations both of you."

The happy news comes just one day after Lily paid tribute to her father Phil - known for his solo career after he left the hit band Genesis - for his birthday.

Alongside a selection of sweet snaps together, she wrote on Thursday (January 30): "From a west coast star to the West End stage and everywhere in between - I'm so grateful to be by your side and for the support, experiences and love we have and will continue to share.

The older I get, the greater I appreciate all the little, special moments spent together. Happy birthday Dad. I couldn't love you more or be more thankful to celebrate you today and every day. Truly. To the moon and back again."
