H&M has issued a message to customers as it makes a major change to its returns policy.
The high-street fashion giant has warned that from February 3, customers will now be charged for returning any items ordered online.
As of this date, shoppers face a £2.95 return fee that will be deduced from their refund - an increase of £0.96 from the current fee of £1.99 per parcel.
Additionally, under current rules all H&M loyalty members don’t have to pay a charge for returning items ordered online, but this will also change from February 3, with loyalty scheme customers also required to pay the new £2.95 fee.
Shoppers don’t have to pay a returns fee for any faulty items or returns that are made in H&M stores, with the charge only applying to online purchases.

In a message to customers, H&M said: “Returns are currently free for all H&M Members but starting from the 3rd of February a return fee of £2.95 will be deducted from your refund for all customers. The fee is not applied to faulty items or returns made to H&M stores.
“For non-members, there is currently a £1.99 return fee per return parcel when returning online orders to our warehouse. This will be deducted from your refund.
“You will not be charged the fee if an item is determined to be faulty or incorrect so please make sure to note that information when registering your return. Please note that if you paid a delivery fee, this will only be refunded if you return all items from the original order.
“Online returns in store are always free of charge, there will be no return fee for any parcels returned in store.”
H&M says shoppers have the right to withdraw the whole of their purchase, or part of it, for any reason at all within 14 days of receiving their order.
The retailer will then also give shoppers an additional 14 days as an extended right to return any or all items in their order, meaning you have 28 days in total to make a return for any reason.
It adds: "If you choose to make a return, we will refund you the order value and the cost of delivery but deduct a return fee of £1.99. However, should you choose to keep certain items and only return parts of your order, the delivery cost will not be refunded and we will also deduct a return fee of £1.99."
Refunds will be made to the same payment method used to place your order within 14 days of H&M receiving your return. Anyone who hasn’t received their refund within this period is advised to contact H&M Customer Service. For any returns made after 28 days, H&M reserves the right to refund you via an e-Merchandise Card.
