Myles Lewis-Skelly ruthlessly mocks Erling Haaland in Arsenal goal celebration vs Man City

Myles Lewis-Skelly sent the Emirates into raptures with a coming-of-age goal to give Arsenal a 3-1 lead over Manchester City, before taunting Erling Haaland.

In celebration, the young defender sat on the ground and pretended to meditate, which is Haaland's famed move whenever he hits the back of the net.

The left-back latched onto a pass from Declan Rice and curled his effort past Stefan Ortega, extending the hosts' advantage to two goals in a frantic second half.

In the two sides' first meeting earlier in the season, during a post-match skirmish, Haaland could be seen telling Lewis-Skelly "who the f*** are you?"

The pair were embroiled in a spat as tensions erupted at the Etihad, in which Haaland pushed Gabriel and told the Arsenal team to "stay humble" following the 2-2 draw.

Lewis-Skelly was making his Premier League debut that day, but made quite the impression on Haaland, before becoming a regular fixture in the Arsenal side.

Haaland had equalised after Martin Odegaard's opening goal, standing tall over William Saliba to head past David Raya, but just 38 seconds later Thomas Partey's deflected effort restored the hosts' lead.

Then Lewis-Skelly drove into the City box, sized up John Stones, before dispatching Arsenal's third of the afternoon. The fourth then followed when Kai Havertz cut back inside and curled an effort into the far corner.

Arteta made a bold call to include Lewis-Skelly, 18, in his starting line-up for such an anticipated clash over the likes of Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior.

But the Spanish boss saw his faith repaid in full, having commended the England youth international following his clash with Haaland back in September.

“He (Lewis-Skelly) is a competitor,” said Arteta at the time. “You look at him, in every duel he goes, the way he reacts with his team-mates, you speak to him it’s constantly eye contact. He’s nudging, he’s asking questions, it’s a special character.

“He can play in three positions basically, as a left back, as a No. 6, as a No. 8, he’s very versatile. He adapts, from there he can occupy different spaces.

“He’s very adaptable, that’s the good thing about Myles - he’s very intelligent, very thorough. He has some unbelievable questions every time you ask him to do something, and he has the competitive edge which I think is demanded at this level. And he really wants it, so we are going to use him in different positions.”
