The illegal migrant who set a group of peaceful pro-Israel protesters alight with a makeshift flamethrower told investigators his goal was to 'kill all Zionists', a FBI affidavit has revealed.
Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, shouted 'Free Palestine' as he hurled makeshift Molotov cocktails at the crowd in the 'targeted terror attack' that left eight people injured, a federal criminal complaint states.
Soliman confessed to the attack after being taken into custody Sunday and told the police he would do it again, according to an affidavit seen by the Daily Mail. He also said he 'wanted to kill all Zionist people' and 'wished they were all dead'.
President Donald Trump has vowed revenge for the 'horrific' attack, saying acts of terror will 'not be tolerated in the US'. He promised that Soliman will be 'prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law' - while also blaming Joe Biden's 'ridiculous open border' immigration policies for contributing to the attack.
Soliman was booked into the Boulder County jail, north of Denver, and has been charged with eight felonies, including first-degree murder. He was also charged with a federal hate crime.
Despite the murder charges, Boulder police confirmed in an update Monday morning that 'no victims have died'. At least three victims are currently hospitalized and being treated for burns, with one said to be in critical condition.
Disturbing new details about terror attack suspect's desire to kill Jews
Mohamed Sabry Soliman told investigators that he researched for a year before carrying out his terror attack, according to an affidavit released in support of a federal hate crime charged filed by the Justice Department on Monday.
He told investigators that his goal was to 'kill all Zionists', the FBI said, and that he intentionally targeted the pro-Israel group Run for Their Lives and knew that they would be assembled on Sunday afternoon.
'He stated that he had been planning the attack for a year and was waiting until after his daughter graduated to conduct the attack,' according to the affidavit.
Soliman constructed homemade Molotov cocktails after doing research on YouTube and buying the ingredients. He drove to Boulder with the devices in his car and stopped along the way for gas, the complaint says.
Law enforcement found more than a dozen unlit Molotov cocktails near where Soliman was arrested. The devices were made up of glass wine carafe bottles or jars with clear liquid and red rags hanging out of the them, the FBI said.
Inside his car, law enforcement found papers with the words 'Israel,' 'Palestine,' and 'USAID,' the affidavit says.

The state of Colorado has charged terror attack suspect Mohamed Sabry Soliman with eight counts of first-degree murder (after deliberation) and eight counts of first-degree murder (extreme indifference).
Soliman has also been charged with first-degree assault and possession of an incendiary device, according to an affidavit for an arrest warrant obtained by NBC News.
This is in addition to the charge filed by the Department of Justice for a federal hate crime involving actual or perceived race, religion, or national origin.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says 'there is NO room in the United States for the rest of the world’s terrorist sympathizers'.
'Anyone who thinks they can come to America and hide behind the First Amendment to advocate for antisemitic violence and terrorism – think again,' Noem, who has been called 'ICE Barbie' for treating her Cabinet position like a TV production, warned in a post on X Monday.
'You are not welcome here. We will find you, deport you, and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.'
She added: 'Our prayers are with the victims, families, and people of Boulder, Colorado. This evil has to STOP now.'
JCPA executive warns of 'broader rise in antisemitism' following terror attacks
A chief executive of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs has warned of a rise in hate crimes targetting Jewish people in wake of the Boulder attack.
Mohamed Soliman's chilling act of terror follows a deadly shooting outside the Capital Jewish Museum just days ago.
'Make no mistake: if and when Jews are targeted to protest Israel’s actions, it should clearly and unequivocally be understood and condemned as antisemitism,' Amy Spitalnick said in a statement.
'These attacks come alongside a broader rise in antisemitism, from hate crimes targeting Jews walking down the street, to efforts to marginalize, isolate, and discriminate against Jews, to antisemitic and white supremacist mass violence targeting synagogues and other spaces.'

Mohamed Sabry Soliman applied for asylum in the US, the Department of Homeland Security has now revealed.

He then filed an ayslum application with US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and has not yet received a final decision on his application, DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin told the New York Times.
He was granted work authorization on March 29, 2023, which lapsed three months ago in March 2025.
Immigrants who applied for asylum can be granted work visas while they wait for a decision in their case.
Charges to be announced this afternoon
Law enforcement will hold a press conference at 2:30pm local time (4:30pm EST) to announce both the state and federal charges against Mohamed Sabry Soliman.
He was being held on Monday on an array of charges, including assault and the use of explosives, in lieu of a $10 million bail, according to official records.

'This vile anti-Semitic violence comes just weeks after the horrific murder of two young Jewish Americans in Washington DC. We will never tolerate this kind of hatred. We refuse to accept a world in which Jewish Americans are targeted for who they are and what they believe.'
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon added: 'No American should experience violence motivated by hatred based on their faith or national origin, and the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice will act swiftly and decisively to bring the perpetrators of such crimes to justice. There can be zero tolerance for such acts in our great nation.'

It is not a crime to build or use flamethrowers as incendiary devices under current federal statute, NBC reports.

President Donald Trump has vowed revenge and promised that Mohamed Sabry Soliman's act of terror 'will not be tolerated' as he finally broke his silence on the tragedy in Boulder.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform Monday afternoon and placed the blame on his predecessor Joe Biden.
'He came in through Biden’s ridiculous Open Border Policy, which has hurt our Country so badly. He must go out under “TRUMP” Policy,' Trump said of Soliman.
'Acts of Terrorism will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law. This is yet another example of why we must keep our Borders SECURE, and deport Illegal, Anti-American Radicals from our Homeland.'
His comments came nearly a full day after the firebombing took place on Sunday afternoon at the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado

MSNBC under fire for misrepresentation of terror attack suspect
The FBI had already confirmed the nature of the 'targeted' terror attack when NBC National Security and Justice Correspondent Winter made the characterization, but it came shortly before Soliman was publicly identified.
But critics were still quick to accuse the correspondent for omitting certain facts, after the incident occurred in Boulder during a pro-Israel rally.
What is Shavuot? The Jewish festival that started hours after attack
Sunday's attack on pro-Israel demonstrators in Boulder took place hours before the start of a major Jewish festival, Shavuot.
Shavuot (pronounced Shah-voo-OTE), Hebrew for 'weeks,' has been observed since biblical times. It marks the passing of seven weeks (49 days) from the holiday of Passover, with Shavuot falling on the 50th day.
In biblical times, Shavuot was an agricultural festival, when Israelites would bring harvest offerings to the temple.
Today, it's primarily commemorated as the traditional date on which God gave the Torah - the law that forms the heart of the Jewish Scriptures - to Moses on Mount Sinai, as described in the Bible.
The 50-day time period gives the festival its Greek name, Pentecost, which is also the name for a holy day on the Christian calendar.

'The university stands ready to assist our Boulder city and county partners and will be there to support the greater Boulder community in the difficult days ahead.'
UC Boulder also encouraged all students, staff and faculty who have been impacted by the incident to contact campus counseling.
The statement, however, did not confirm Wilhelm's claim that a UC Boulder professor was a victim of the attack.

Police discovered an additional 16 Molotov cocktails near the area of Boulder where Mohamed Soliman carried out his attack.

Investigators believe Soliman visited a nearby gas station before the attack to fill up his garden sprayer and some bottles.
He is understood to have sprayed gasoline from the 'makeshift flamethrower' towards the pro-Israel demonstrators while holding a lighter to the stream of gas.

'I'm confident that working with our law enforcement partners we will be able to ensure that a full investigation is made and justice will be served.'
He added: 'As the mayor of the city of Boulder, I want to be clear that violence and hatred have no place here. Attacks like these seek to strike terror in people's hearts and divide us from one another, but Boulder will stand strong together.
'Know that the Jewish community has my full support, and the support of the entire Boulder community.'
'Too early to speculate motive', police chief says
Boulder police said on Sunday that 'it is way too early to speculate motive' for the attack despite the FBI having already branded the incident an act of terror.
'We are not calling it a terror attack at this point,' Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn.
'I know there's a lot out there on social media, but I ask people just to give us a little bit of patience while we work through a really complex scene.'
Police are holding a press conference today at 1:30pm local time (3:30pm EST). It is unknown if motive will be addressed during the briefing.

'This is an example of how perpetrators of violence continue to threaten communities across the nation.'

Shocking videos shared online showed Soliman appearing to taunt the victims while brandishing bottles of alcohol for the Molotov cocktails in each hand as smoke rose from the scene.
Officers within the FBI's Denver unit also attended a home linked to Soliman on Sunday to conduct 'court-authorized law enforcement activity' as part of the investigation.
The unassuming El Paso County property was surrounded by officers as confused neighbors noted they didn't know the residents of the address well.

CNN criticized after analyst undermines FBI's 'terror attack' determination
CNN is being slammed for downplaying the attack in Boulder, Colorado, which FBI Director Kash Patel and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino both called an act of terror.
But CNN National Security Analyst Juliette Kayyem pointed out that the Boulder police chief was not yet willing to call the attack an act of terrorism - as she called Patel 'juvenile' for assuming it was.
'It makes law enforcement look disorganized and it makes the FBI look so juvenile, like why are you getting ahead of the police chief who says "I don't know what this is,"' Kayyem argued. 'And he has no incentive to get it wrong.'
After claiming CNN was 'taking a step back', Kayyem said that if Boulder police later determine it was terrorism 'I will be the first one out here saying that this is a hate crime.
'But until we do, we all need to - to not follow the FBI's tweets,' she argued.
Her comments were quickly criticized online, with one person noting that the suspect was caught on video 'ranting about Zionism as he sets Jews on fire.'
Suspect is illegal immigrant who overstayed two visas, White House says
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller sensationally revealed the suspect taken into custody in the Boulder attack was living in the United States on an outdated work permit issued from the Biden administration.
He said Soliman was initially granted a tourist visa, and when he was caught overstaying that visa, Biden issued him a new work permit, which has also since lapsed.
He described Soliman as an 'illegal alien.'
'Immigration security is national security,' he said. 'No more hostile migration. Keep them out and send them back.'
His revelation comes amid reporting that Soliman was an Egyptian national residing illegally in the United States after overstaying his visa.
Fox first reported that the terror suspect arrived in America via Los Angeles International Airport in August 2022, carrying a tourist visa.
He had authorization to remain in the United States until February 2, 2023, but that date came and went and Soliman remained in the country. He had filed a claim with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services on September 9, 2022.
The Biden administration granded Soliman work authorization on March 29, 2023, which lapsed in March 2025 - three months ago.
Congressman Brendan Gill expanded on Miller's revelation, sharing to X: 'Biden allowed Islamic terrorist Mohamad Soliman into the country under a B1/B2 visa program.
'He overstayed his visa so Biden awarded him with a work permit. He then overstayed his work permit, before brutally attacking American Jews.'
