We’ve watched Gogglebox for so long now that we have a special place in our hearts for all the cast members and we love settling down in front of the TV on a Friday night to watch them react to the latest and greatest shows on the telly box.

The Channel 4 show is set to return to our screens later this year, but things will look a bit different as it’s been revealed that two of the show’s stars have been axed in a shock shake-up.

Roisin Kelly and Joe Scott, the Scottish couple who appear on their sofa together, were ‘not asked back’ by show bosses and will no longer be taking part in the show.

Roisin broke the news on Instagram as she shared a statement about the three year long stint that she and Joe spent filming Gogglebox.

She began, ‘After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26. Therefore, we are leaving the Gogglebox family.’

Roisin continued, ‘We couldn’t be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity, the experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching TV with you all on Friday nights! It’s been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.’

After shouting out the crew that worked with them on the show, who ‘have become like family’, and the viewers that watched them, she added, ‘Time to watch TV in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn.’

Fans took to the comments section to share their disappointment at the sad news, with one writing, ‘Gutted! You and Joe are so funny and it’s been so good having fellow Scots on the show! Won’t be the same without youse.’

Another commented, ‘Won’t be the same without you guys in our living rooms on a Friday evening, thanks for a very enjoyable three and a half years. I wish you both all the best for the future,’ while a third added, ‘WTF!! This is a joke, two of the best ones on it. So gutted.’

Channel 4 have been contacted for comment.
