LBC radio host Tom Swarbrick certainly didn’t mince his words when he shared his disappointment with Labour on the ongoing migrant crisis. On Tuesday (August 19), a council was granted a temporary High Court injunction blocking asylum seekers from being housed in an Essex hotel. The injunction was sought by Epping Forest District Council to stop migrants being placed at The Bell Hotel in Epping, which is owned by Somani Hotels Limited.

In recent weeks, thousands of people have protested near the hotel after an asylum seeker living there was charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the town. On Wednesday (August 20), the broadcaster shared his frustration with the government after security minister Dan Jarvis confessed: “We're looking at contingency options for where those people can be accommodated”.

He fumed: “It is a form of insanity for the government not to tell local councils or local people where these asylum seekers are going to be placed.

“And then when the local council does get in touch and say, ‘Hello, we might have a bit of an issue here’ or ‘Can you help us with this?’ they’re stock answer is, ‘No. Go away, we’ll close it in four years’.

“It is unacceptable, you can’t do that to people who might be worried about who is inside those hotels and what they are getting up to.”

The broadcaster went on to suggest other places where migrants could live instead of hotels, adding: “If it’s not a hotel, it’s going to have to be a house of multiple occupancy.

“That is going to come with all kinds of difficulties too, or you have to put people on various forms of state-owned property, crown estate land, or whatever, and you have to make sure that they don’t have the ability to wander off into a town if there are concerns about safety.”

It didn't take long before listeners flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their frustrations online. Some viewers agreed with the host, with one user fumed: "This idiocy will result in someone getting seriously hurt or worse. People like Tice or Farage are simply fanning the flames. Extremely irresponsible."

Another agreed: "It's not insanity, Tom, it's deliberate. They don't tell anyone what they're doing because they don't believe that they have to and don't want the aggravation."

A third echoed: "You actually think they care Tom Swarbrick? They don't. They've got no interest in stopping the boats, it's all about keeping the problem going."
