WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Outlander Blood of My Blood.

Outlander Blood of My Blood paid tribute to actor Brian McCardie who portrays a pivotal character in the prequel series.

The MGM+ drama's fourth instalment Heart of a Soldier sees Henry Beauchamp (portrayed by Jeremy Irvine) facing mounting pressure to deliver increased rents to the ruthless Isaac Grant (Brian McCardie).

Despite managing to secure additional funds through his newly implemented lottery scheme, Isaac remains incensed and issues violent threats towards Henry.

After the concluding scene, a tribute card emerged which stated: "In loving memory of our beloved friend and colleague Brian McCardie."

The Scottish performer was cast in the role of the menacing Isaac Grant but is equally recognised for his appearances in The Bill, Snatch, Ordeal By Innocence and his portrayal of the notorious crime boss Tommy Hunter in Line of Duty.

Blood of My Blood marked not McCardie's debut in the Outlander franchise as he had previously embodied Sir Marcus MacRannoch in the memorable season one episode Wentworth Prison.

However, to everyone's devastation, the 59-year old passed away whilst filming Blood of My Blood last year.

His sister Sarah shared on X: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian James McCardie (59), beloved son, brother, uncle and dear friend to so many.

“A wonderful and passionate actor on stage and screen, Brian loved his work and touched many lives, and is gone much too soon.

“We love him and will miss him greatly; please remember Brian in your thoughts. Funeral arrangements will be announced in the days ahead. As a family, we would ask for privacy at this time.”

It was later disclosed that McCardie's cause of death was "due to an aortic dissection", a condition often linked with long-standing blood pressure.

At present, it remains uncertain whether the actor will appear in any of the remaining episodes of the first season.

His character has been mentioned several times off-screen, so it's unclear when during filming McCardie passed away.

Reports suggest that McCardie does not appear in either episode five or six, leaving fans in suspense about whether he will feature in any of the other remaining episodes.

Outlander Blood of My Blood continues every Saturday on MGM+.
