Former BBC star Wynne Evans' year continues to go from bad to worse. Following the broadcaster's decision not to renew his one-year rolling contract for his radio show after a four-month investigation into his "spit roast" comments during the Strictly Come Dancing tour, he now appears to have confirmed his engagement has ended.
The 58-year-old father of two and fiancée Liz Brookes, 50, have seemingly called it quits, despite having only become engaged in June during a romantic getaweay to Morocco. However, in a Facebook Live on Saturday, when asked whether he was still engaged, he answered: "No." He said he had been "trying to date" and mentioned he had been in a relationship "that’s not healthy for me". He told his followers: "I haven't felt this level-headed for years, having been in a bad place or a relationship that is not healthy for me. It's now calm."
Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for Evans for comment.
The couple first sparked split rumours in July when Wynne deleted images of their engagement from social media.
The Welsh singer, who first found fame as a character called Gio Compario in a series of advertisements for the price comparison website GoCompare.com, also appeared to have unfollowed social media accounts belonging to Liz.
The pair first met at a party in Wales which was organised by Liz, who runs a successful events company in Cardiff. Wynne asked her out the following day and they had been together for around 18 months before his proposal.
She even accompanied him to recordings of Strictly Come Dancing and Instagram was littered with pictures of the pair on the set.
Announcing their engagement in an Instagram post in June, Wynne posted a picture of himself on one knee popping the question to the blonde businesswoman.
"Somewhere between the couscous, the camels, and me limping around the souks like a man with no spatial awareness, I proposed to Liz – and she said yes! (No take-backs, I've checked)," he gushed.
"She's clever, she's kind, she's got excellent taste in men. Absolutely no idea how I pulled that off, but here we are! Feeling very lucky, very happy, and just a tiny bit smug."
Wynne was previously married to singer Tanwen Evans, 48, until they divorced in 2016. The couple share two daughters, Ismay and Taliesin.
