Amanda Holden has revealed the secrets behind her bikini body – 'unintentional fasting' and no limits on alcohol.

The Britain's Got Talent judge, 54, admitted to the Daily Mail that staying in shape isn't 'easy', but credited her childhood gymnastics training and hectic lifestyle for keeping her trim by default.

In an exclusive interview, Amanda explained that despite sharing glamorous bikini shots on Instagram this summer, she's been indulging in a daily drink with co-star Alan Carr, 49, during filming of their show Amanda and Alan's Greek Job in Corfu.

As well as living by her phrase, 'if you can't tone it, tan it,' Amanda says her busy schedule, which starts at 5am preparing for Heart Radio's Breakfast Show and ends with dinner at home with her family, means she 'accidentally fasts.'

Maintaining a 'balanced' lifestyle, by not restricting herself from an 'Aperol on a Tuesday' or a 'cheese sandwich at 10pm', is how Amanda says she stays healthy, not to mention through sessions on her Peloton and her secret weapon, spray tans.

She said: 'I did gymnastics for years, it was what I wanted to do more than anything, I didn't finish it until I was 15, so I think my body has always retained some sort of a figure.

'I don't find it easy. I hate it when you read about women who have got into their hot pants two weeks after giving birth, it's not what people want to hear.

'I haven't been on my Peloton since July 18 when I went to Corfu and I have drunk everyday. In the summer, that's what I do, I let it all go and then I get it back in time for Britain's Got Talent, and everything else in the lead up to Christmas.

'I will get back on the Peloton, drink at the weekends but I don't stop myself from living. If you can't tone it, tan it, that's what I say.

'Accidentally I do the 16 hour fasting thing because I have my tea at six or even earlier sometimes with the girls when everyone's at home and I won't have my breakfast until 9am when I'm on Heart. Then I realise I have fasted. I am busy, I never stop and I eat loads.'

She continued: 'It's about trying to stay happy and balanced.

'I have said this before but with lockdown and all that nonsense there were so many rules and conditions put upon us, there is in life anyway, and you have to allow yourself to do what you want within your own life and that's how I stay happy. I

'If it's a Tuesday and I want an Aperol then I will. Or if I want a cheese sandwich at 10pm at night, I will.

'I am not strict on myself but I am healthy by default because I'm a vegetarian. I have two coffees a day and I have them before 9am. I drink water all day long, by 1pm I have drunk the amount you're supposed to drink but I am up at 5am.'

Amanda, who shares daughters Lexie, 19, and Hollie, 13, with husband Chris Hughes, is taking on a new role as host of BBC quiz show, Celebrity Inner Circle.

Described as a mix of The Traitors and The Weakest Link, the series pits celebrities and members of the public against each other in general knowledge challenges, all while keeping the cash prize they started with a closely guarded secret.

The final sees two players face a choice, share their winnings or attempt a daring double bluff to claim the entire prize fund for themselves.

And Amanda roped in her closest celebrity friends to take part, revealing who she trusts most in the world of showbiz.

When asked who is in her inner circle, Amanda replied: 'I have been friends with Sarah Parish and Angela Griffin, Angela isn't in the show, but definitely Angela, Tamzin Outhwaite, Lucy Gaskell, the girls from Cutting It basically and then my friend Jen, who I went to drama school with and now lives in Los Angeles, she is an actress and a mother mainly now.

'Those girls have been around for 25 years. I do have my team, Nathan, and Christian, none of them are straight, it's the gays and the girls apart from my husband, who is my best friend. There's Alan Carr, too.

'I have been friends with these people for years and these are people I can trust and would talk to and drop everything to help them.'

Amanda says that while she has celebrity friends, she has also grown close to mothers she met at the school gates.

She adds that none of them care about her TV profile, which she's grateful for, as she sees herself as a 'vulnerable' parent facing the same stresses as any working mother.

The presenter admits she's nervous about the project, as she's keen for it to succeed, especially since she hosts the show solo, without a male co-star

She said: 'I am a very perceptive and strong, opinionated woman. I am very much a girls' girl so if I ever work in anything new or go anywhere new I will always champion people in the job.

'New friendships, I have made some new friends over the past few years but not really. There are people I definitely have dinner with and they are great company but I still have my core people.

'All my school mums have become new friends and they have been like a rock for me.

'I am always working and they have Hollie's back if I have forgotten something like her PE kit or late pickup, they have been at the school gates since Hollie was four, we have now changed schools actually, but those women are in my life now.

'I don't think they give a s*** about who I am, which is the best thing about it, I don't want them to care.

'I feel like a normal, vulnerable, working, chaotic, stressed out mum, they all look much more put together than me. They are a group of women I have really locked out on.'

Amanda, who shot all 32 episodes of the show in Glasgow earlier this year, reveals the one standout outfit she loved wearing, by a designer we all know

She said: 'I do feel nervous because it's been a long process and I have been there through every part of it.

'They asked me to do it before it went to pilot. I did that in a church hall with a load of execs all seeing if this would work.

'There were so many people at the BBC in turn all coming to make sure every single component works. I was in my trainers running around, questioning and talking and because of that process it feels like it's more me and less quiz show host.

'It feels authentic and I care about it, which is why I want it to work. It means a lot to everyone and to me.'

Amanda, who shot all 32 episodes of the show in Glasgow earlier this year, reveals the one standout outfit she loved wearing, by a designer we all know.

She said: 'It was a huge wardrobe but I wore a couple of things I had worn on other shows, like a few years ago. That's what you call sustainable fashion.

'There was a really lovely, leather Victoria Beckham dress. I also had a lot of dresses in my wardrobe which I've never worn on Heart that I bought myself which I wear.'

But it wasn't just the fashion for Amanda, who said she actually picked up some new facts through her presenting of the show, adding: 'I learned that slugs have got teeth.

'Bananas are berries, strawberries are part of the rose family, my takeaway wasn't what colours are in the Croatian flag, it was slugs have got teeth and I've told everyone.'

  • The Inner Circle will premiere on BBC One and iPlayer from Saturday 4th October launching with the celebrity version. The daytime quiz will start on Monday 6th October
