Arsenal left it late to snatch a draw against Manchester City with Gabriel Martinelli producing a moment of real quality. The north Londoners went behind early on but kept pushing for an equaliser which arrived in the nick of time. A lapse at the back allowed Erling Haaland to score early on and the Gunners struggled to carve out chances as they sought an equaliser.

The hosts were much improved in the second half and began to pile on the pressure. Eventually, they found a breakthrough with Martinelli coming off the bench to lob home in the 93rd minute. City upped the ante in the closing exchanges in search of a dramatic winner, but they were unable to make it stick and the spoils were shared at the final whistle.

Express Sport rates and slates the Arsenal players following today's dramatic draw...

Arsenal player ratings vs Man City

David Raya - 6

Wasn't to blame for the goal with a defensive lapse in concentration letting him down.

Jurrien Timber - 6

Had a decent game, making things happen on the right side of the pitch. Booked for a tug on Jeremy Doku.

Gabriel Magalhaes - 5

Caught out of position for the goal, leaving a big gap for Haaland to exploit. Not his best performance.

William Saliba - 6

Didn't cover himself in glory while trying to defend Haaland's early strike but did okay apart from that.

Riccardo Calafiori - 6

Showed little hesitation in bombing forward to involve himself in attacking moves, but lacked an end product.

Martin Zubimendi - 6

Did his job well enough, keeping things ticking in the middle of the park. Went close with an effort from range.

Mikel Merino - 5

Offered little in possession apart from safe passes to those around him. Hooked at the interval.

Declan Rice - 6

Tasked with a creative role in the absence of Martin Odegaard but struggled to have an impact. Dropped deeper in the second half.

Noni Madueke - 7

Worked hard to create chances from the right flank. The home side's best player before he was replaced at the break.

Leandro Trossard - 5

Anonymous for much of the opening 45 minutes. Got more involved in the second half but did nothing worth mentioning.

Viktor Gyokeres - 5

Looked a yard off the pace throughout, often failing to get himself in the right areas.

Substitutes

Eberechi Eze - 7

Got himself involved as much as possible and should have started the match. Provided the assist for Martinelli's goal.

Bukayo Saka - 6

Came on for the second half. Looked lively as Arsenal hunted a late leveller.

Gabriel Martinelli - 7

Produced a real moment of quality to equalise in stoppage time. A clutch cameo from the bench.

Ethan Nwaneri - 6

Brought some urgency when he was introduced in the closing stages.

Cristhian Mosquera - n/a

Introduced after Martinelli's goal, only playing for a few minutes.
