Arsenal wrecked Ange Postecoglou’s return to north London as the Gunners put Nottingham Forest to the sword in a 3-0 victory. Three points at home ensured that Mikel Arteta's side, at least momentarily, moved to the top of the Premier League table. Though Chelsea and Liverpool are among the teams that can overtake them again this weekend.
Martin Zubimendi opened the scoring with a stunning volley from the edge of the box, sealing his first Arsenal goal in some style, showing superb technique to beat Mats Selz with sheer power.
The hosts came flying back out of the gates after half-time and a long ball to Eberechi Eze saw the England international, on his full debut, beat the offside trap and lay a ball for Viktor Gyokeres to tap home from inside the six-yard box. Zubimendi then got his second, this time a header, to seal all three points.
It would have been a perfect afternoon if not for the injury suffered to Martin Odegaard, which Mikel Arteta will hope is not too serious.
Here, Express Sport takes a look at Arsenal’s stars against Forest...
Arsenal player ratings vs Nottingham Forest (4-3-3)
Goalkeeper
David Raya - 6
Only had one shot to save and won't have many more comfortable days, though Chris Wood gave him a fright when he accidentally hit the bar after a cross was fired into his chest.
Defence
Jurrien Timber - 5
Jurrien Timber's mix-up inside his own box gave Callum Hudson-Odoi a golden chance to score in the second half, but the Dutchman was bailed out by Cristhian Mosquera.
Cristhian Mosquera - 8
Mosquera had big shoes to fill, stepping in for William Saliba, but looked at home alongside Gabriel. The summer acquisition has impressed Mikel Arteta read the game well and had no qualms about getting in a physical battle with Chris Wood.

Gabriel - 7
Dealt with any Forest threats capably and put in a few crunching tackles, particularly in the second half, to assert his dominance in a secure backline.
Riccardo Calafiori - 6
Started an 80-yard attack that needed just five touches and eventually led to Gyokeres' goal, but otherwise had a quiet afternoon. Perhaps needs to provide more of an outside threat to allow Eze to move infield. Booked after an hour and replaced by Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Midfield
Martin Zubimendi - 9
What a way to open your account for Arsenal. Zubimendi’s supreme technique was one of the reasons Mikel Arteta was prepared to shell out £60million for his signature, but it would primarily be used in the middle of the pitch.
Instead, the Spain international watched closely as Noni Madueke’s corner was headed away, but only to Zubimendi 25 yards out, who thumped an effort past Selz.
His second was not as blockbuster, rising highest from six yards to head home, but Zubimendi was equally delighted to claim just his first-ever brace in professional football.
Mikel Merino - 7
Given a rare start in midfield with Declan Rice on the bench after his goalscoring exploits for Spain, and his confidence shone early on with a few neat touches around the Forest box. He was only denied by a stunning save from Mats Selz at close range and was comfortable throughout.
Martin Odegaard - N/A
Had to pop a few painkillers in the early stages following a tough landing on his shoulder, but could not continue and he was replaced after 17 minutes by Ethan Nwaneri. Another big concern for Arteta if his captain is facing another spell on the sidelines.
Attack
Noni Madueke - 9
The summer signing from Chelsea continued to flaunt his electrifying skills and got past makeshift left-back Morato with ease time and time again. He was the danger throughout the contest and the defender was eventually given a reprieve and moved to centre-back following injury to Murillo.
Received a well-deserved standing ovation when taken off in the second half.
Viktor Gyokeres - 7
Had a tidy afternoon, proving a handful for some very capable centre-backs, with a few smart touches before doubling Arsenal's lead. He timed his run and finish to perfection and was in place where an elite striker would expect to be. The Gunners' marquee signing now has three goals from his first four games.
Eberechi Eze - 7
On his full Arsenal debut, the £67.5m man back put Neco Williams on his backside just 15 minutes into the game with a wonderful piece of skill. Just seconds after half-time, Eze raced onto a long ball and played an inch-perfect low cross for Gyokeres to tap home. Will hope to play more centrally moving forward but a very positive start to life in north London.
Substitutes
Ethan Nwaneri (17’) - 6
A few flashes of promise and the 18-year-old clearly has bags of talent, but was well marshalled by Elliott Anderson and Ibrahim Sangare.
Declan Rice (68') - 6
A rare outing off the bench and nearly got on the end of a low cross at the back post, with the goal gaping, but he was just out of reach.
Myles Lewis-Skelly (68') - 6
A solid cameo off the bench.
Gabriel Martinelli (78') - 6
Was unable to convert a promising counter-attack but did only have a few chances to extend the scoreline.
Leandro Trossard (78') - 7
Played a delightful cross for Zubimendi to attack and score just seconds after joining the action.
