Bargain Hunt presenter Natasha Raskin Sharp was left stunned after history was made on the beloved BBC show. In a recent episode, the red and blue teams went head-to-head in a classic battle to unearth the best antiques — all in the hope of turning a profit at auction. The red team featured friends Emma and Jess, guided by expert Philip Serell, while the blue team, made up of Helen and Claire, received support from Roo Irvine.

Before the main challenge began, both teams were set individual tasks. Emma and Jess were asked to find an item featuring a fruit or vegetable, while Helen and Claire had to track down something with a connection to a cat. After a successful day of bargain hunting, both teams managed to find their three chosen items and headed into the auction full of hope. Emma and Jess kicked off their buying spree with a glove stretcher featuring dog-head terminals, snapping it up for £20. For their challenge item, they chose a honey pot and milk jug set adorned with orange prints.

Their third and final item, and their biggest spend, was a silver Vesta case, which they bought for £160. Over on the blue team, Helen and Claire selected a writing set as their big spend item, paying £129. They also picked up a charm bracelet for £45 and completed their cat-themed challenge by purchasing a biscuit tin decorated with feline imagery for just £5.

At auction, the red team saw success straight away, making a £10 profit on the glove stretcher and an additional £3 from the fruit-themed tea set. Their luck held firm when the Vesta case sold for £190, earning them a further £30 profit.

Hoping to boost their total even more, expert Phil Serell introduced a bonus buy: a piece of Royal Worcester. The gamble paid off, with the item selling for £60 and adding another £11 to their pot.

By the end of the episode, the red team had made a total profit of £54. The blue team also enjoyed a strong showing at auction. Their writing set brought in a £21 profit, followed by a £15 gain on the charm bracelet and an additional £7 from the cat-themed biscuit tin.

For their bonus buy, expert Roo presented them with a Harrods gravy jug, purchased for £9. The gamble paid off, earning the team another £11 in profit.

But the biggest twist came at the end of the auction. In a rare and unexpected turn of events, presenter Natasha revealed that both teams had finished with an identical total profit of £54.

“Is that not so strange? How did that happen?” she exclaimed, clearly baffled.

Both teams were awarded £54 in cash and the coveted golden gavel. Phil admitted he has "never ever ever" seen this result in his nine years on the show. Speaking to Roo, a gobsmacked Natasha added: "It's a weird result but it means everyone's a winner."

Roo agreed, confessing: “I didn’t think it was possible!” to which Natasha replied: “In 25 years of Bargain Hunt, this may have happened before, but I’ve never seen it.”
