GB News star Patrick Christys appeared on the broadcaster alongside his wife and fellow presenter Emily Carver to introduce the latest addition to their family. Earlier this month, the couple, who wed in 2024, welcomed a son, George Alexander Peter Christys, and brought him to the studios for his first live appearance on screens. On Monday (September 22), the young family made an appearance on the breakfast show alongside Eamonn Holmes and Penny Smith, where they issued an update about their home life.
The new parents updated their co-stars and viewers on how their lives have changed, as Emily shared all the details about the birth of baby George Christys. Reflecting on their first few weeks of parenthood, Patrick beamed with pride as he revealed that he was “so proud” of his wife during the birth. George Alexander Peter Christys was born in the early hours of Friday, September 5, and the pair have been taking a short break from the screen since.
Speaking on the birth, Emily shared: "I was induced a little bit early because they were worried that maybe he was measuring a little small, so they wanted to get him out. It was very, very painful indeed. But I did finally get an epidural towards the end. He weighed six and a half pounds."
Patrick added: "I was in awe of Emily. She basically did all of it on two paracetamol until right in the end. It was incredible. It was amazing to watch and just to be there, I felt very sorry for you."
He added: "We should thank, and want to thank, all of the GB News viewers and listeners who've been sending us stuff.
"We don't have to buy a single item of clothing for that six months. It's fantastic. So keep it coming everybody."
Emily also shared he gratitude to the people who helped her in the hospital, and said that she had team of midwives "cheering her on".
“The staff were amazing. I had three midwives all cheering me on saying 'push, push, push.’"
She added: "My mother was there too, supervising. We all felt like we had medical knowledge, saying, ‘I need another paracetamol,’ and thinking, ‘I’m not doing this, it’s very difficult.’
"I resisted the urge to get on the gas and air; we really lucked out.
"We were in the labour ward, the baby arrived, all well and healthy, and then they said, ‘Oh, we actually have a private room downstairs in the birthing centre you can use.’”
