With temperatures dropping and things only going to get colder, people will want to maximise the warmth they can keep in their homes. Amazon is selling a handy device that takes seconds to install and "stops heat escaping."

For those who have already caved in and switched their central heating on, making the most of that precious warmth will be crucial. Otherwise, you could be wasting cash on your energy bills—and be no warmer for it.

Aside from keeping your windows shut and closing doors to direct heat to a specific room, there are other ways to make the most of your radiators when they're switched back on. If there is enough space above your unit, shoppers can install a quick Amazon gadget that should direct heat where it's needed most.

The Myhomeware Radiator Air Flow Adapter Heat Diverter Booster is meant to help make your heating more efficient. It costs just £17.99 for a compact 400mm version, but the price goes up to £38.99 for the largest 2000m size.

Simply measure your radiator and select the size that best matches. The simple design is easy to fit and requires no tools; simply clip into place.

With summer well and truly over, shoppers are finding ways to maximise their radiators' efficiency. For instance, the Speed Comfort Radiator Fan Mono at Lakeland is on offer for £59.99.

The product is described as a "powerful magnetic radiator fan to save energy" that is supposed to "improve radiator efficiency and heat circulation". And, for another cost-effective solution, Brits could try the reflective foil trick using items like the Diall Radiator reflector, which costs £15 for 5m², available at B&Q.

But, the Amazon radiator add-on is getting rave reviews. The company claims this is "a more effective and efficient way of heating any room" and customers have been praising the impact these have had in their homes.

One said: "The radiator diverter is great. I noticed how much warmer the room was the first time I used it." Another added: "I don't know why radiators don't come with these attached, such a simple design! I wasn't sure how well these would work, but I have been really pleased with them."

A third wrote: "One of my radiators is under a window with obvious loss of heat which meant the middle of the room barely got warm unless I hiked the heating right up. Now I can feel the heat in the room and don't feel much heat over the radiator."

However, despite these glowing reviews, some had issues with the product. One claimed: "This product really isn't well thought out. They didn't account for depth at all, as such it only covers half the radiator. Worst of all, it's so thin that it won't even deflect the warm air from behind the curtain, which was why I bought it."

Another said: "So, this could be great. A nice little way to make your gas central heating money go that little bit further. Unfortunately, some design decisions mean this won’t work for many with ‘compatible’ radiators like ours. Ours are the right size and have the right type of vents but it still doesn’t fit."

But, despite these criticisms, most had nothing but great things to say about the clip-on attachments. One shopper said: "When it came I was dubious, it's flimsy. The packaging weighed more! I attached the end bits and put it in place. Boy was I surprised. It does work. Walked into the living room and felt the difference. You need this if you've a cold living room."
