There’s no doubt that Gwyneth Paltrow has always been something of a trail-blazer in the world of showbiz – from bragging about her sex life (most notably with Hollywood hunks Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck), to encouraging women to steam their vagina and, of course, telling us all how to divorce amicably.
Last year marked ten years since the A-list actress announced that she and her ex-husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, would be divorcing after 11 years together.
At the time, Gwyneth – who shares daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19, with Chris – was globally ridiculed for labelling her divorce as a ‘conscious uncoupling’, despite the strong friendship the exes now share.
But now, seven years on from when Gwyneth, 53, wed her second husband, Glee producer Brad Falchuk, 54, an insider tells heat that, following recent rumours of unease in their marriage, the Goop founder could be heading for ‘Conscious Uncoupling Part 2’.
They tell us, ‘Recent signs suggest that all might not be well for the future of their marriage as Gwyneth and Brad appear to be drifting apart, not just professionally, but personally.
‘She and Chris Martin had serious problems for a few years before they called it quits after years of trying to make it work. But the reality is that Gwyneth gets bored and she likes to do things on her own terms, as you can see from how she navigated their split.
‘Now, ten-plus years later, you see the conditions for a 'Conscious Uncoupling Part 2' coming together.’
Rumours that their marriage is going through a tumultuous time surfaced over the summer when Gwyneth, an unauthorised biography written by New York Times bestselling author Amy Odell, was released, and is reported to have left Brad ‘horrified’.
‘He can’t help but feel triggered,’ a source said last month.

And while you would assume that it would take a lot for someone whose wife mass- sold a candle smelling of her own vagina to be triggered, the biography included some very x-rated allegations.
In one chapter, Odell alleges how Gwyneth enjoyed the sexual act of ‘tea-bagging’ with her A-list ex, Ben Affleck which, as one celeb commenter summed up, is definitely not the ‘twinings’ kind.
However, our source says the couple have also come under strain as Gwyneth focuses more fully on her acting career amidst reports that her lifestyle empire, Goop, is struggling to stay afloat following mass redundancies last year.
And the problem, our insider reveals, is that Brad has been left very much on the sidelines as they pair spend increasing amounts of time apart.
They tell us, ‘Gwyneth is totally focused on her next chapter as an actress and a businesswoman. Gwyneth wants to be a movie star again and Brad is just sitting on the sidelines like his opinion doesn't matter, even though he's an incredibly successful producer in his own right.
‘In turn Brad has his own life and he's on his own journey, which includes tons of travel and tons of time alone to write and work. There's less overlap than ever between him and Gwyneth.'
They add, ‘For people who have known them as a couple for years, it just looks bad, especially since the early days of their relationship was defined by them teaming up and collaborating whenever they could. That just doesn't happen anymore, and everybody can see it.’
To make matters worse, Gwyneth’s 2025 return to acting came in the form of sporting drama Marty Supreme, in which she plays the love interest of Hollywood’s new golden boy and ‘Mr Kylie Jenner’, Timothee Chalamet.
And Gwyneth didn’t hold back when it came to sharing that the pair had ‘a lot – a lot’ of on-screen sex during the movie, as she further admitted how she had told the intimacy co-ordinator to ‘step back’, adding, ‘I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on.’

And now the source says the role wasn’t a decision that she and Brad had made together.
‘The real tell here is how Gwyneth has approached her comeback to acting this year,’ the insider says.
‘It wasn't something she deeply consulted Brad about and he was as surprised as anybody that Gwyneth took that part with Timmy, which is going to be a firmly R-rated project.’
‘It’s got to sting that Gwyneth didn’t choose to do one of his projects for her big comeback. He’s always encouraged her to have agency to make her own choices but he’s also human and no doubt he would love to have her star in something of his again.’
After first meeting when Gwyneth made a cameo in Glee back in 2010, Brad revealed at the time how the two had quickly developed a friendship, although their chemistry was undeniable.
‘She's stunning and she's charming and she's completely disarming,’ Brad said in 2020. ‘We had similar enough backgrounds – a little bit Jewish, a little bit East Coast, her dad was a TV producer – and so we just sort of developed this really lovely friendship.’
Now, after the couple teamed up again for 2019 Netflix series The Politician, our source says those close to Brad and Gwyneth have been left confused as to why she hasn’t opted to take on one of his projects again.
‘It’s kind of a head scratcher to people in their circle as to why they haven’t done more since then,’ the insider says. ‘A lot of people are saying that decision is a huge red flag, especially considering how restless she’s been.’
Gwyneth – who was also photographed without Brad at Milan Fashion Week last month – has also experienced a lot of personal change over the past few years, with Apple leaving for college in Nashville in 2022, while Moses left last year to attend the prestigious Brown University.
Ahead of Moses’ departure she admitted to feeling ‘incredible sadness' and ‘a deep sense of impending grief’ and said that the thought of losing her identity as a mother was giving her a ‘nervous breakdown’.
Gwyneth has also been candid about going through perimenopause, as well as the struggles that Goop has faced over the past few years.
Now the source says she’s ready to start a new chapter, as they reveal that the biggest debate in Hollywood circles is whether Brad will be a part of it.
They tell us, ‘She plays her cards very close to her chest but she’s open about wanting to reinvent herself. There have been some significant challenges and a lot of talk about her wanting to cash out and do something new.
'Whether or not Brad will be on that new journey with her is something a lot of people are questioning.’
But for now, they say Gwyneth – who recently read out a love letter Brad had written to her on her podcast, leading fans to label the PDA ‘cringe’ – has denied there is any trouble in paradise.
‘Gwyneth gets very defensive if anyone dares to suggest there could be trouble between her and Brad,’ the insider says.
‘As far as she’s concerned it’s a good thing that she and Brad aren’t co-dependent. But a lot of people in her world say that’s just her putting a positive spin on things to control the narrative.
‘She can brush off speculation all she wants but until she and Brad start spending a whole lot more time together people are going to continue to talk.’
