BBC bosses are reportedly already eyeing up a list of famous faces to feature in the upcoming series of Celebrity Traitors after the first UK edition of the reality series proved to be a major hit. This comes as the current season, featuring the likes of Celia Imrie, Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns, and Alan Carr, will conclude with an epic finale on Thursday night (November 6). Although a second instalment has yet to be confirmed, it has been reported that bosses are quietly approaching its celebrity contestants.

Among the line-up of British icons, Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones could make her debut on screens as a faithful or a traitor. The actress, best known for her role as Nessa Jenkins, could be among those playing a fan-favourite game of deception. According to a source: “Ruth is one of the names in the frame and she's been approached about taking part.

“Given the stellar names they secured for series one, the next instalment has to be just as impressive. Ruth would be an incredible addition to the cast if she can fit it into her schedule. Ruth would only consider taking part on the proviso she would be a Faithful,” they insider added via The Sun.

The Express has approached Ruth Jones and the BBC for comment

With the current season approaching its end, Rivals star Danny Dyer revealed that he had been approached by the BBC to feature on the celebrity spin-off but turned it down.

He revealed: “They did sniff around me about it. It was a ‘no’ from me because, for one, I hadn’t seen it, but now I’m into it.

“If you’re going to do it, if you’re famous, it needs to be an indulgence project, you have to love the game.”

The actor continued: “It’s quite a simple game, I thought it was too complicated, but it’s actually just about manipulating people and a lot of lying. If the money’s right, I might get involved in the next series, Danny admitted.”

While Ruth is yet to confirm her upcoming appearance on Celebrity Traitors, the 59-year-old is currently preparing to start working on a new project alongside her Gavin and Stacey co-star James Corden.

The new Apple TV+ show, titled The Choir, will feature two actors portraying estranged siblings, Ben and Lisa, who are forced to reconnect in their small, sleepy English town, where nothing ever happens.

According to The Sun, the series will be filmed next year, for release in 2027. The production will feature "an all British cast, with Corden and Jones also starring," alongside their roles as executive producers and writers.
