GB News shared more bad news for Prince Andrew in a bombshell new interview following his announcement that he was giving up his Duke of York title. In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, Andrew said he will "put my duty to my family and country first", following accusations he raped Virgina Guiffre and had links to Jeffrey Epstein. He denies all allegations.
As Dawn Neesom gave the latest news on Prince Andrew's loss of title, royal broadcaster Helena Chard said: "We're fed up of hearing allegations every day. His reputation is on the floor but the reputation risis for the toyals is very real. They are surrounded by this black cloud.
"Yes, he has been asked to relinquish his titles, and that's got to be a kick in the teeth for him; he's going to feel completely humiliated. I do feel though with Virginia Guiffre's memoir coming out, more allegations will come out. I think Andrew will be completely out of sight and definitely can't be seen with the royals. Will he be asked to take further steps? We'll have to see what happens."
Prince Andrew was dealt more bad news as York Councillor Darryl Smalley, who led the move to strip him of the freedom of the city, said on the show that he felt Buckingham Palace are "reflecting what public opinion seems to be in York."
He added: "My inbox was full of people back when the first Newsnight interview aired. All local councillors' emails switched from potholes to Prince Andrew overnight. People were extremely miffed, but as an authority and a council, we had absolutely no power."
He added that there was a huge demand in York for Andrew to be stripped of the title, saying: ""The interesting thing is when we voted to strip his freedom of the city, it was completely unanimous, which is unheard of in York.
"York is a very political city; it is extremely rare that everyone agrees with each other, but it was one of the first unanimous votes in a long time."
A statement released by Prince Andrew on Friday said: "In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family."
"I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.
"With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me," as he insisted he still denies all allegations made against him.
