A five-year-old girl was left completely 'unrecognizable' after a gang of bullies brutally beat and scalped her in an attack last month, her mother said.

Antavia Kennibrew found her young daughter, A'Marie, severely injured and disfigured after the child had managed to leave a family member's home shortly after being dropped off.

After discovering that A'Marie, who has since been named and pictured in a Change.org petition, was not at the property in Cleveland, Ohio, Kennibrew bolted out the door on a mission to find her.

She soon saw that the youngster was being treated by emergency services after having been assaulted by a group of ten-year-olds.

'I literally saw the worst thing ever! I saw my daughter unrecognizable,' Kennibrew told Cleveland 19. 'I couldn’t wrap my head around it.'

Kennibrew described the scene as 'unbelievable' and went on to further allege that in addition to being badly beaten and scalped.

'My daughter was not my daughter,' she said. 'Her hair was scalped from her head. She had bruises and blood all over her body.

'Her eyes were filled with blood. Her lips and mouth were filled with blood. Her nails had debris and dirt stuck in it.'

Cleveland Police have since confirmed that the victim and suspects are all under the age of ten.

The mother has said that A'Marie sustained physical, emotional and mental trauma following the ordeal, which has landed them both in therapy.

'I want her to just be somewhat of a normal five-year-old again,' Kennibrew said.

Kennibrew has since taken to social media to share an update on her daughter's recovery, alleging that she found her daughter with 'signs of strangulation.'

Kennibrew wrote on Facebook on October 6: 'I couldn’t believe what I saw in front of me. My daughter did not look like herself. She was traumatized.'

Kennibrew said that the group of youngsters took her daughter 'by her hand and walked her to a field that was far away from the residence.'

'In that field, they beat my daughter until she was unconscious,' she continued. 'They ripped out her hair... They also shoved sticks down her throat. They stripped her naked and strangled her with her own shirt.'

She further alleged that her daughter is now having 'behavioral problems' as a result of the attack.

'She is mentally not OK,' she wrote. 'Me not getting justice for my daughter makes me feel like I failed her.'

'I cannot sleep. I can barely eat. I keep repeatedly seeing images of my baby in that field,' she continued. 'She is only five and these horrific things has happened to her. Please help please look at this as if it was your own kid. This is not gossip. This is not a funny matter. This is not nothing to not take serious.'

Officials have since launched an investigation into the case. No charges have been filed.

'The Cleveland Division of Police Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit is actively investigating a case involving multiple children under the age of ten, both as victims and as suspects of the investigation,' Cleveland police said in a statement.

'Given the sensitive nature of the matter, the release of further information at this time could jeopardize the integrity of the investigation and violate the constitutional rights and privacy of those involved.'
