Presenters Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton have been best mates since their teenage years, often working together on shows like Celebrity Juice. After a period of drifting apart, it's believed they reconnected last year and are now more committed than ever to supporting each other through tough times.
Their friendship was reignited when Holly was taking a break from television following a horrifying incident where security guard Gavin Plumb was accused of planning to kidnap, rape and murder her. At the same time, Fearne, who is famously open about her mental health struggles, was dealing with the news of her ex-partner Ian Watkins' death in prison.
Recently, she has been sharing honest posts about feelings of shame and instability, with Holly sending love and support to her friend, according to the Mirror.
On Tuesday, Fearne posted a video on social media discussing what she's learned over the week. The video was shared on Instagram, with the caption: "Four life lessons from this week. I'm not sleeping well. My brain is a bit wobbly at the moment but I'm grasping the lessons life is chucking my way. Which of these interests you the most or rings true?".
In a video posted alongside the message, the mother-of-two discusses her Happy Place podcast and a chat she enjoyed with Charlie Mackesy. She remembers how the writer of The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse examined the subject of shame, which she says she "deeply appreciated.
"The one reminder that I had from that episode was that so many of us feel shame," she stated, "but we assume it's just us because that is what shame does. It wants you to believe that it's just you but it's not.."
Under the touching post, Holly wrote: "Love you, Cotton Chops," followed by a red heart emoji.
The pair became friends when they started their careers in TV, and ended up working together for years on a number of shows, including Celebrity Juice.
However, they are said to have drifted for a few years, before reuniting following Holly's exit from This Morning due to a stalking incident. Holly adopted a more holistic approach to life, something Fearne had been practising for some time.
An insider told The Sun: "Fearne started living holistically, concentrating on self-care while Holly was still on TV. But then Holly went down the same path and started meditating and appreciating and researching holistic therapies. When she set up her wellness brand, Wylde Moon, she and Fearne were back on the same page again."
Fearne's recent post comes just days after former Lost Prophets frontman Ian Watkins was found dead in prison. Fearne briefly dated him in 2008, but has never publicly discussed their relationship.
The vile criminal was serving a 29-year sentence for numerous serious sexual offences, including crimes against children and infants. There are suggestions that he may have been targeted for allegedly refusing to pay protection money to other prisoners.
He was discovered with severe injuries in his cell at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire following an apparent knife attack. Despite the efforts of prison staff, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
An insider revealed to The Mirror: "It looks like it happened just after unlock, they have walked into his cell and he ends up dead. He got attacked in 2023 and that was because he refused to pay (protection). He has always paid for protection but every so often people just reminded him that he needed to pay it so they gave him a good hiding. The guys that have done this are no heroes. It is not like they are some kind of shining Knight."
Two inmates were interrogated by detectives in relation to the deadly assault. Rashid Gedel, 25 - also known as Rico Gedel - and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, were apprehended and charged with murder following the discovery of the 48 year old shortly after 9am on Saturday.
Both men were due to make their initial appearance before a Crown Court judge on Tuesday.
Dodsworth made his appearance via video link from HMP Wakefield, while Leeds Crown Court was informed that Gedel had declined to attend remotely. No applications for bail were submitted during the hearing and both men were held in custody until their next appearance at the same court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on November 12.
