Jurgen Klopp has hinted at a potential return to Liverpool despite his current role with Red Bull. The legendary German manager, who left Liverpool in the summer of 2024 after a successful nine-year tenure, transformed the Reds from mediocrity into one of Europe's top teams and a perennial title challenger. After citing fatigue as a key factor in his surprise exit midway through his final season, Klopp took a break from coaching but returned to football as Red Bull's Global Head of Soccer in 2025.

Despite previously stating he would never manage an English team again, Klopp suggested a return to Liverpool could be on the cards during a lengthy new interview on Stephen Barlett's Diary of a CEO podcast. "I said I will never coach a team in England again, that means if it's Liverpool, theoretically it's possible," Klopp revealed.

He added: "I don't know exactly, I love what I do right now. I don't miss coaching, I do coach now but just different. I don't miss standing in the rain, two-and-a-half [to] three hours, I don't miss going to press conferences three times a week.

"Having 10 or 12 interviews a week, I don't miss that. I don't. I don't miss being in the dressing room. I coached around 1,080 games so I was in the dressing room very, very often. I don't want to die in the dressing room because it smells. It's these kind of things.

"There might be something, I'm 58, From your perspective that might be old, but from other perspective, it's not that old. I could make the decision in a few years... I don't know.

"Do I have to make a decision today? I will not coach again, but thank God I do not have to do that, I can just see what the future brings. Now I am involved in a project I really love and I really love the people I am working with, the clubs we are responsible for and the countries the clubs are in.

"I like doing what I am doing right now. In my mind, only if I focus 100 per cent on it, I can do it really good and that's what I have always wanted to do."

After Klopp left last year, Arne Slot guided Liverpool to only their second league title since 1990 with the Reds finishing 10 points clear of Arsenal after winning it with four games to spare.

But the champions are suffering currently, having lost four games in a row including three successive defeats in the league to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Manchester United.
