Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz are returning to our screens, as they recover from a devastating fire on their estate. Kelvin Fletcher is opening the doors to his farm for a third series, confidently declaring to the cameras that he now feels like a genuine farmer. "This is my version of a happy life, we've found our purpose now," he proclaims.

Joining Kelvin for another year of Fletcher's Family Farm are his wife Liz and their four children - Marnie, Milo and twins Mateusz and Maximus. "I'd even go as far to say the kids are farmers," Liz comments.

The family's Peak District farm, tucked away in Cheshire, is busier than ever. The lambing season is in full swing, with even the twins pitching in. "It's our fourth year lambing," Kelvin shares. "We're well and truly in our groove. The lambs are flying out at the moment which is great. We're not having to get involved at all. It's exactly what you want", reports the Mirror.

But it's not just lambs joining the fold this season. For the first time, the Fletchers are welcoming a breeding bull to expand their herd, following the success of their prize cow, Cherry, who was crowned Supreme Champion at the Royal Cheshire Show.

"We've never had a male come on the farm to serve before. I'm excited," Kelvin reveals, "The cows were way more excited than him."

However, amidst the joy came a heartbreaking low. During a rare family holiday, their farmhouse was engulfed in flames.

"We took the whole family away and a few days in, we got a call saying the house was on fire," Liz recalls. "Our first reaction was 'thank god we weren't here.'" The fire ripped through the roof of their cherished home they'd spent years renovating. To make matters worse - the extensive smoke damage has made the home uninhabitable for the family.

"It was the stuff of nightmares," Kelvin admits, "Our neighbour called us. She was in a panic and the fire was roaring."

But their hands were tied. "The fire brigade was called. It was surreal. We were in another country, there was nothing we could do," Kelvin remembers.

Despite the circumstances, the Fletchers remain optimistic as they navigate through the burnt remnants of their possessions at Fletchers' Family Farm. "We just have to clean up and tidy up," Kelvin states cheerfully. Liz added: "One thing I love is a rebound. My ironing board's gone. Luckily, I never did any ironing."

This year, the Fletchers are not solely concentrating on livestock. Kelvin is determined to revive the farm's history as a mixed operation.

"This farm was, once upon a time, a mixed farm," Kelvin explains, "It did livestock but it grew crops as well from barley, oats, potatoes. However, for the last 20 years, it's been pure livestock."

Their eldest daughter Marnie, who is now eight, is also stepping into her farming boots. With a passion for animals, she's rearing her own flock of Jacob lambs and learning the art of shepherding from her father.
