Stars of Malcolm in the Middle, Frankie Muniz, Justin Berfield and Christopher Masterson have reunited nearly 20 years after the final series.

The trio look remarkably different two decades on from their roles as teenage siblings in the iconic sitcom, which originally ended in May 2006.

Muniz launched his career playing the gifted middle child of Hal (portrayed by Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek), with Masterson and Berfield as his elder brothers, Francis and Reese.

He posted the photo on Instagram this week, writing: "I was told not to post this yet, but then I listened to this song. I'm just too excited for y'all to see the new episodes and I miss my brothers."

The three were all smiles in the new photo shared from the set of the upcoming Malcolm in the Middle revival, heading to Disney+ in 2026, reports the Express US.

The four new episodes will bring back most of the original cast, though one major star is missing from the family reunion.

Former child actor Erik Per Sullivan, who played Malcolm's younger brother Dewey, isn't in the picture as he sadly won't be returning for the revival series.

Sullivan has since retired from acting, so the role of Dewey will instead be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.

Actor Cranston, who'll be reprising his role as Hal, recently shared a conversation he had with the former actor on the Fly on the Wall podcast.

"I talked to Erik and I said, 'Hey, we got the show! It's going to come back,'" he recalled.

"He goes, 'Oh, that's fantastic!' And I go, 'Yeah, so we're looking forward to having you back.' He goes, 'Oh, no, no, I don't want to do it. But it's fantastic.'"

Sullivan's last appearance on the silver screen was in the 2010 teen thriller film Twelve, featuring The Boys' Chace Crawford, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson and Emma Roberts.

He then chose to step out of the limelight and concentrate on his studies.

"He's actually going to Harvard," Cranston continued. "He's really, really smart, and he's getting his master's at Harvard right now.

"He said, 'Oh God, no, I haven't acted since I was nine or something. So I'm not into it.'"

Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
