Marseille star Bilal Nadir collapsed during their Ligue 1 fixture against Angers on Wednesday evening. The French club have now issued a "reassuring" medical update, confirming that the player "did not lose consciousness at the time of the incident". They added that "all of his vital signs were found to be normal" following treatment by medical staff and emergency services.

Nadir was subsequently transferred to hospital for a "full medical check-up", with his condition described as good, though the player "remains under observation while this assessment continues."

The complete medical statement that Marseille issued on Thursday, translated from French into English, reads: "Olympique de Marseille wishes to give reassuring news regarding Bilal Nadir, who suffered a health scare yesterday during the match against SCO Angers. The player did not lose consciousness during the incident.

"Upon being attended to by the club's medical staff and the emergency services present at the scene, all of his vital signs were found to be normal.

"As a precaution, Bilal Nadir was transferred to the hospital for a full medical check-up. His condition is good, and he remains under observation while this assessment continues."

"The club thanks the medical teams for their responsiveness, as well as the many fans for their messages of support. Further information will be provided as the situation develops."

Nadir has made his mark on the Marseille team in recent seasons, having signed from Nice in 2021. After two seasons with their B team in the fourth tier, he made his senior debut in September 2023.

During that breakthrough season, the midfielder made nine appearances and played 16 times in the following term. This season, he has been a regular feature, mainly as a substitute, in all but one of their league matches, and also made his Champions League debut.

In March, Morocco called up Nadir for a couple of World Cup qualifiers, although he did not play in either match.

Born in France, Nadir has represented both his birth country and Morocco, his parents' homeland, at youth level internationally. Most recently, in November 2023, he made two appearances for Morocco's under-23s, albeit in friendly matches.
