Only Fools and Horses fans are mourning the death of Patrick Murray, who portrayed Mickey Pearce on the beloved British sitcom. The actor, who played the doggy-dealing cheeky double glazing salesman between 1983 and 2003, passed away aged 68 following a battle with lung cancer. A statement on a fan page for the show, which also starred Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst, read: "It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the death of our friend Patrick Murray—Mickey Pearce to so many. He was a regular attendee of our conventions, and we will miss his humour and the joy he brought to many."

The star was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, but he had been given the all-clear in 2022 after undergoing chemotherapy and an operation. However, he had to announce to fans in April 2023 that the cancer had returned and spread to other parts of his body. Patrick, who hails from Greenwich, in London, has a host of acting credits to his name, but here are his top 5 best moments as Mickey in Only Fools and Horses...

Mickey Pearce was played by Patrick Murray

1. Dating at the Nag's Head

The character's hopeless attempts to woo the ladies, especially in the episode 'Dates,' have to be one of the actor's top moments as Mickey. In the episode, he brags about his non-existent romantic exploits and how they always end in laughter or embarrassment.

The episode aired on Christmas Day in 1988. Del Boy Trotter (Sir David Jason) joined a dating agency under a fake name while Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst) went on a date with a Nag's Head barmaid.

However, in a bizarre twist of fate, the woman Del goes on a date with turns out to be a stripper hired for Uncle Albert's (Buster Merryfield) birthday party.

2. The Spring Water Scam

Who can forget the time Micket gets involved with Del's scheme to sell tap water as 'Peckham Spring Water'? His attempts to act like a businessman while clearly being out of his depth are quintessential Mickey.

The ridiculous scam featured in the Mother Nature's Son episode, which aired in 1992. Del, Rodney and Uncle Albert made a fake natural spring using a hosepipe and tap water, which they tried to sell off as luxury mineral water.

Before long, their contaminated water supply left the entire area of Peckham without water.

3. The Band Audition

In another unforgettable episode, Mickey auditions to be part of Rodney's rock band, A Bunch of Wallies. However, his complete lack of musical talent and overconfidence make for a hilarious episode, especially when Mickey tries to convince everyone he's a musical genius.

Fans will recall Del was left baffled when he turned on the TV and saw the band performing on the popular show Top of the Pops.
