Sam Pang has made headlines worldwide after a guest on his talk show slammed Hollywood superstar Keanu Reeves for being a 'bad interview'.

The Aussie comedian, 52, was hosting famed talk show star Rosie O'Donnell on Sam Pang Tonight on Thursday when she made the comment – which drew shocked gasps from the studio audience.

O'Donnell's unfiltered verdict on Reeves, known as one of the A-list's 'Mr. Nice Guys', has since exploded in news feeds from London to New York.

The Independent UK, Us Weekly and Entertainment Weekly, among many others online, have all covered O'Donnell's jaw-dropping appearance on Sam's show in detail.

The controversy kicked off when Sam asked the former host of The Rosie O'Donnell Show about her 'worst' celebrity interview.

'The worst?' O'Donnell began, and added quickly: 'Oh I love the guy, but he's not good on talk shows... Keanu Reeves.'

Her answer had Sam reeling with surprise, while O'Donnell, reacting to the live audience's astonished response, was quick to recover and show support for the 61-year-old John Wick star.

'He's so sweet, he looks gorgeous, I love all his movies, but he would not answer a question,' she said recalling Reeves' appearance on her show in 1997.

She continued: 'I'd say, 'So, Keanu, how's it going? How are you feeling?' [He'd respond] 'Good.' We were live. We couldn't re-tape.

'I finally said after three minutes, 'You know, Keanu, it is a talk show. You have to talk.''

She added: 'So he got the hang of it.'

Shared to Channel 10's YouTube, Sam's interview with O'Donnell has racked up 78K views since it dropped last night and attracted 373 comments so far.

'I am so glad to see this in the US and watch this!' posted one impressed fan, while another added, 'This is a great talk show! I'm glad it's on YouTube. This interview with Rosie is so much fun!'

A third user said: 'Such an accidental delight. Sometimes the YouTube algorithm throws a great thing my way.'

The original O'Donnell/Reeves interview can also be seen on YouTube and it does show the host telling the actor that he was not opening up enough.

Reeves had laughed at one of her questions to which she responded: 'Sorry, but you know it's a talk show. We've got to ask questions.'

Later on in the interview, she asked him: 'You don't do a lot of these shows do you? Do you hate them?'

Reeves responded: 'I'm not comfortable with them, but they're fun. It's alright.'

Many in the comments section of the YouTube clip praised the comedian for helping The Matrix star open up.

One wrote: 'Rosie really made him feel very much at ease in this interview....'

Another said: 'Rosie was such a good TV talk show interviewer! I love how she made celebrity introverts like Keanu and Winona feel at ease during her interviews.'

The Rosie O'Donnell Show appeared in the US from 1996 to 2002, with a total of 1,193 episodes.
