Squid Game: The Challenge season two is on its way to Netflix with its intense trailer teasing higher stakes and never-played-before games.
Squid Game may be done and dusted with but Netflix fans can still relive the high pressure series through its reality show Squid Game: The Challenge.
Season two is a three-week event, debuting on Tuesday, November 4, welcoming 456 new contestants to enter the “ultimate test of strategy, alliances and endurance” for a chance to win the $4.56 million prize.
From the iconic rainbow racks and Gong-gi of the Six-Legged Pentathlon, to the flying stones and, of course, the terrifying Pink Guards, the trailer is filled with familiar Squid Game moments.
As the “games begin” in the teaser, one of the contestants is unexpectedly shot before someone else remarks: “I can’t believe this is actually our lives right now."
As clips from various games play out, another contestant says in a voiceover: “I promised myself going into this game that there would be no lines that I wouldn’t be willing to cross.”
In one of the closing scenes, a curtain slowly opens to reveal an army of Pink Guards eerily standing in front of a contestant, before another player is getting ready to vote.
After each challenge, the contestants can vote either to keep playing or leave with an equal share of the prize fund but will the money actually be split this time around?
When series one aired two years ago, it was Player 287, Mai, who won the competition after successfully choosing the right key to unlock a safe.
The first series introduced mother-son duo Players 302 and 301, LeAnn Wilcox Plutnicki, and Trey Plutnicki respectively, with producers teasing even more pairings in season two.
Executive producer John Hay told Entertainment Weekly: "We've leaned into relationships even more in this season than we did in the first.
"That's one of the most powerful things about the drama and it's powerful for us too, and so that ups the stakes.
"We have siblings, we have parents and children.
“The Trey and LeAnn story was very powerful and surprised us all at the start.
“Having seen it play out, you then wonder what would happen if there were more pairs, more siblings, more parents and children, and lo and behold, that has been really, really interesting in the way it's changed the dynamics of the game."
Squid Game: The Challenge season two premieres on Tuesday, November 4, on Netflix.
