TalkTV host Kevin O'Sullivan has accused Meghan Markle of deliberately trying to “hit back” whenever the Princess of Wales receives positive media attention reigniting debate over the long-running tension between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family.

Speaking during a segment this week, the host said there was “no doubt at all” in their mind that Meghan has shown “a pattern of behaviour” over the years, claiming she attempts to make headlines whenever William and Kate are in the spotlight.

“Who can forget that time when brave Kate made her first public appearance for a year after revealing her cancer diagnosis?” the host said. “She appeared at Trooping the Colour, and suddenly, the day before, Meghan launched a brand of dog biscuits — it was a pathetic attempt to grab attention. It didn’t work, and we’ve never even seen them since.”

The host went on to praise Prince William for his recent appearance alongside American Pie actor Eugene Levy, describing the segment as “one of the best things I’ve ever seen a royal do.”

In the interview, William reportedly opened up about modernising the monarchy, his plans to make it “less stuffy,” and the family’s challenging year as Kate battled cancer. “It was such a nice bit of television,” the presenter said. “William came across brilliantly — and Eugene Levy was just a natural.”

But the host suggested Meghan may have felt upstaged by the coverage. “I can’t imagine she didn’t see that and think, ‘I’ve got to do something here,’” they added. “Hence, she hopped on a plane to the Paris fashion shows. She is Machiavellian.”

The Duchess of Sussex surprised onlookers when she appeared at Paris Fashion Week to support a fashion designer friend last week. Meghan attended the Balenciaga show after making the solo trip across the Atlantic.

She has worn a number of designs by the fashion house's new creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli and the visit reflected "her support for his new creative chapter", a spokesman for the duchess said. It was her first time at the fashion spectacle for more than a decade.

Meghan, 44, was pictured greeting Vogue's global editorial director Anna Wintour and film director Baz Luhrmann at the star-studded event. The duchess, who announced her arrival in Paris with an Instagram story, wore a white outfit of wide-leg trousers and a matching blazer from the collection for the show on Saturday.
