Taylor Swift has revealed fans 'will know' when she gets married - and she's putting the wedding off until after she's finished promoting her new album.

The singer, 35, appeared on the latest episode of The Graham Norton Show as part of the promo trail for her record The Life Of A Showgirl.

In promo images released by the BBC, the pop superstar looked stunning in a black velvet David Koma dress with a crystal-embroidered choker neckline as she sat on the British chat show's famous red sofa.

Her new engagement ring from Travis Kelce, who proposed in August, was front and centre, as Taylor showed off the sparkler which reportedly cost her NFL star fiancé between $700,000 and $1,000,000.

Asked by Graham when the wedding is happening, she said: 'You'll know. I want to do the album stuff first, and the wedding is what happens after in terms of planning. I think it will be fun to plan.

Talking more about her hotly-anticipated new album The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor said: 'Last year on the tour I was physically exhausted – sick and worn down – so to spark me up I had the album as a secret passion project behind the scenes. It stopped me hitting a wall.'

Taylor's boyfriend Travis popped the question in August with the singer sharing proposal snaps of the pair on Instagram

Asked if all the songs are inspired by her life, she said: 'I am open about things but in recent years I have a different perspective and like storytelling at a little bit of a distance, so it isn't like doing a complete autopsy of myself.'

Reminded that she once said she only wrote songs she can easily sing, she says, 'I think my wheelhouse is bigger now.

'I feel I can do anything now while running in heels. I am confident to write higher choruses, jump an octave, and do falsetto stuff. I have more confidence after the tour.'

Asked about specific songs on the album, she said: 'My dad is very excited about Opalite, and it is Travis's favourite. Growing opals in a lab is an interesting metaphor for making your own happiness; to rise above the trials and tribulations and be happy you did things on your terms.'

Taylor also spoke about aquiring the master rights to her first six albums from the investment firm Shamrock Holdings, which acquired them in 2020 after they were sold by her former label, Big Machine, to Scooter Braun in 2019.

She said: 'A lifelong dream came true. I was able to buy my entire back catalogue. I don't respond to stuff generally but not owning it really pissed me off.

'I didn't think I should be given it – I was happy to pay and at a premium. I am glad I spoke publicly about it and my fans got behind it and championed it.

'I couldn't believe it happened. Travis and I were in tears when it did. Every time it is mentioned, I get a wave of euphoria still.'

Taylor was joined on the couch by Cillian Murphy, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Domhnall Gleeson and Lewis Capaldi, and seemed particularly struck by fellow singer Lewis, laughing as the Scottish star chatted.

Taylor's episode of The Graham Norton Show airs on Friday October 3 - the day her record is released.

It is just one of a series of high profile appearances for the star as she promotes her new album. She will also chat to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Monday before Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday.

On Thursday, BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Greg James teased that Taylor would be appearing on his show during her current trip to the UK.

Taylor created the collection of new music while performing her Eras tour throughout 2024.

'I would do three shows in a row, [and then] I'd have three days off. I'd fly to Sweden, [then] go back to the tour,' the singer-songwriter told fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce while announcing the new album on an August episode of their New Heights podcast.

She recalled: 'I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.'

About working with music legend Max Martin, she added: 'It meant the world to me to have this creative experience, where [Max Martin, producer Shellback and I] knew that we had to bring the best ideas we've ever said.

The Life of a Showgirl will be released just over a month after Swift, 35, first announced it.

In keeping with her pattern of number sequencing, Swift announced the 12-track album at 12.12AM on August 12 before making an unprecedented podcast appearance on her fiancé Travis Kelce's New Heights to share the album's cover art, rhinestones and all.

The Life of a Showgirl marks a departure from her previous projects visually, with the album artwork unveiling a particularly steamier side of Swift, dressed as a sexy Vegas showgirl.

It is also her first album in over a decade that will not feature production by her go-to collaborator and co-songwriter, Jack Antonoff.

Instead, Swift confirmed she co-produced her new album with pop music heavyweights, Max Martin and Shellback.

Martin used to be a major collaborator with Swift, but the two haven't worked together since recording music for Reputation, and Martin was notably absent from the sessions to rerecord songs he had previously worked on with Swift.

This new album follows Taylor's previous release, The Tortured Poets Department, which came out in April 2024.

Even before it's release, the album has already broken a record - Spotify confirmed on August 31 that it had become the most pre-saved album in the history of its Countdown Page.
