Amanda Owen has shared a heartbreaking photo to her fans on social media following the death of her dog, Chalky. Taking to Instagram last month, the 51-year-old told her followers that their family dog tragically died, and has now given an update on saying her final goodbyes. Uploading a photo of what appears to be the remains of Chalky in a personal wooden box, she wrote: "Gone away. #chalky #finaldestination #pet #terrier #dog." The box features colourful paint artwork and the words 'Chalky' written by paintbrushes. Plenty of Amanda's followers have flooded the comments section with words of support and expressed their sympathies.
One person wrote: "Sending love to all the family. We dread the day this happens, saying a final goodbye to our beloved pets is never easy. Run free sweet Chalky, you will be greatly missed."
A second also chimed in: "What beautiful time spent remembering and comforting each other in this moment. So important to pause in early loss and absorb - grief is LOVE personified. They are family. She’s with you."
A third person also commented: "Sending all my love we loved meeting chalky when we visited a couple of years ago he’s was such a character."
A fourth also echoed: "Well done girls, so sorry chalky has gone as been a large part of your lives. Sending lots of love."
A few days ago, Amanda posted a picture of the late Chalky in a wildflower meadow along with the caption: “Mourning.” The mother of nine also shared a video of Chalky riding alongside her in a tractor before the canine died.
Talking into her camera, Amanda explained that she was “sorry to say” their family dog had become unwell and was “fading.”
She said: “Chalky has had her time and what a great life she has had but now she’s struggling. She’s very weak, she’s very tired and she keeps falling over. She’s not in any pain or anything.
“I just have to make sure that she doesn’t conclude her life by falling over somewhere silly like in the river that you [Chalky] did this morning. Wherever I go, Chalky comes too.”
Amanda is best known for her Channel 5 show, Our Yorkshire Farm, where she shares the highs and lows of farming.
