A Place In The Sun star Laura Hamilton, 43, has revealed the places she believes people should be looking at if they are thinking of buying abroad at the moment. The show is currently celebrating it's 25th anniversary and Brits appetite for a home in sunnier climes has only increased in that time. After 13 years on the aspirational Channel 4 property programme she is well versed on value for money locations that offer a great quality of life.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk the bubbly mum of two revealed the locations she currently rates for those looking to buy abroad. "I think Italy, inland Italy is a place that people should be looking into, and definitely parts of Greece," she said. "If they want to get away from Spain then look there. Spain will always be popular. Spain is always going to be the number one destination. But, who knows?" she said.
"I think there are parts of Spain that are definitely on the on the up around Murcia. It's always been better value for money, but with more transport links or new transport coming into that area, prices are definitely up for sure.
"I mean, there's a lot of places that I would love to go to and explore property - somewhere we haven't ever filmed on the show is Albania.
And I keep hearing Armenia is apparently, like an incredible place for property at the moment - but I'm not sure how many people would know about it or want to buy holiday home area.
"But I've never filmed there either because it all just depends where we get allocated on the shoot as to our destination. We don't get to choose where we go," she revealed.
Irrespective of where people are considering as a location Laura has one key piece of advice for anyone wanting to take the leap and buy abroad.
"I would say a mistake that people don't think about is what the property will be like year round. And I don't I only mean from a weather point of view, I mean from what it's like population wise - because some resorts in the summer months can be incredibly busy, and in the winter months, they shut down. So it's just important to consider those things.
"I did a show in Italy once with a lady who wanted to be off the beaten track. And whilst we were doing the house tour the heavens opened. Basically, the whole road to the house became a mud bath. We all got stuck and she felt really bad.
"I said to her, this is the reality of what it's like, living off the beaten track and she had no idea that was what it was going to be like. I said, ‘there's no need for you to feel guilty. This is the weather. This is what happens’. And she said, ‘It made me realise I don't want this’."
