It’s fair to say that this year’s Married At First Sight couples have had their fair share of ups and downs, but one couple who have a slightly more turbulent journey than most is Nelly Patel and Steven Springett.
While things got off to a good start on their wedding day and honeymoon, their relationship quickly began unravelling when all the couples came together for the experiment, with Steven storming off on more than one occasion and even branding his wife a ‘f**king idiot’.
The latest twist in their love story (if you can call it that) came during last night’s (Sunday 2 November) when Nelly’s friend Lucy exposed that Steven was still active on a dating app despite being married.

Of course, viewers had their say on social media in the wake of the drama and so did Nelly, who took to Instagram to take a major swipe at Steven.
In a frankly hilarious move, the dentist turned reality star shared a picture of herself pretending to be a baby wrapped up in a blanket. Next to her was a sign that read, ‘Nelly, 374 months old, loves cheese.’
The post was captioned, ‘Since he thinks I was born yesterday 🤭🥲.’

We aren’t the only ones who loved Nelly’s post as plenty of her MAFS UK 2025 co-stars shared their support in the comments section. ‘Praise the queen 👏😂,’ wrote Davide Anica, while Leisha Lightbody commented, ‘You are so funny Nelly love you ❤️.’
The drama doesn’t end there either as Steven has hit back on his own Instagram account and insisted that the pictures of his account were ‘edited’.
He’s even claimed that he was banned from Hinge and was no longer able to access his account.

Taking a swipe at Nelly’s friend, he added, ‘”Doing investigating all week” but you didn’t know whether I was going to Manchester or not though Lucy, so how and why would you investigate all week – or was you in fact told I wasn’t going and the reasons why and decided to say I matched up with your friend that day travelling up so conveniently.’
Somehow we don’t think this is the last we’re going to hear of this…
