An NHS worker has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two patients at a Welsh hospital. Ieuan Crump has been found guilty of nine charges of sexual assault, including three counts of assault by penetration, WalesOnline has reported. Crump, 27, was a trainee health worker at the Grange Hospital in Cwmbran in August, 2021. He assaulted two different patients on different occasions while performing bladder scans as part of his role.
One of the victims speaking during the trial at Cardiff Crown Court, the jury said Crump sexually assaulted her with his finger in the presence of a female health worker who had been trying to insert a catheter into the patient's bladder. Crump then returned to the room alone, without his female colleague, and said he needed to check there was no swelling. He then repeated the previous sexual assault.
The second victim told the court that Crump touched her genitals during a bladder scan, asking if they were sore. He also opened her legs during the procedure, choosing not to wear gloves during the examinations. He disputed the claims that he "targeted two vulnerable women" and said he wore the required PPE equipment at all times.
