Failed asylum seekers could be offered extra cash to voluntarily depart from Britain under plans being put forward by the Government.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood unveiled a series of controversial asylum reforms yesterday, which came under fire from many within her own party.
The Home Office will start trialling 'increased incentive payments' to encourage migrants to leave. The existing scheme offers them up to £3,000 to go home.
While the proposals could see migrants handed thousands more in taxpayers' money to leave voluntarily, the scheme could also save money in the long-run.
