Whilst Anne Rice enthusiasts prepare for the return of Interview with the Vampire, another programme set within the same fictional world is currently airing.

Talamasca: The Secret Order shines a light on the enigmatic Talamasca organisation, a collective of talented individuals who monitor vampires, witches and other paranormal creatures as they navigate the world. The six-episode programme focuses on law student Guy Anatole (Nicholas Denton), whose existence is turned upside down when the clandestine society makes contact with him.

According to the synopsis: "When Guy learns that the Talamasca has been tracking him since his childhood, he falls headlong into a world of secret agents and immortal beings who, up to now, have maintained a fragile balance with the mortal world."

The society is referenced in Interview with the Vampire and positioned at the heart of the narrative that develops in The Mayfair Witches. Whilst both programmes are based on Rice's books, the new Talamasca programme is an original tale, meaning even devoted Rice followers will struggle to anticipate what unfolds.

Considering how interconnected the programmes set in the Immortal Universe are, it comes as little shock that producers have concealed a significant Easter egg in Talamasca that reveals some tantalising information about Interview with the Vampire's forthcoming third series.

Set to arrive in 2026, Interview with the Vampire's latest chapter will be renamed The Vampire Lestat, reports the Mirror. Sam Reid is returning as the magnetic vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, and this time audiences will witness him pursuing stardom as a 1980s rock sensation.

Considering the narrative's trajectory, the third season will feature substantial musical content which sharp-eared viewers have already been able to sample. Vampire Lestat's music made its debut in the fifth episode of Talamasca: The Secret Order in a clever Easter egg.

"If a viewer is listening very closely in Episode 5, they might hear something coming through the speakers of a bar that is a direct tie to another of the series, and might also give somebody some residuals from Talamasca," co-showrunner Mark Lafferty told Entertainment Weekly.

"If they're listening at just the right time, they just might hear a track or two that comes from Lestat."

This isn't the sole connection between the programmes, as Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian), whom audiences encountered in Interview with the Vampire, also features in Talamasca, alongside Raglan James (Justin Kirk).

Talamasca: The Secret Order is currently streaming on AMC+ and is expected to land on Netflix on December 1 for UK-based viewers
