Madonna has posed for another provocative magazine cover, starring on the latest issue of Vogue Italia.

The music superstar, 67, wowed in a series of shots from renowned Brazilian photographer Rafael Pavarotti.

Dressed in pieces from her own personal archive, the singer is seen grabbing her chest with her head thrown back in ecstasy in one racy shot.

She chose a nude corset and fishnet tights for the shoot, adding glittering gold heels, and bizarrely some pink kneepads. The look was completed with her pink-tinged locks.

In the accompanying interview, the star teased her anticipated new album Confessions II, which she will drop on July 3.

Serving as a sequel to her highly successful 2005 record and reuniting her with producer Stuart Price, the record has been inspired by the star's enduring love of a dancefloor.

'Every dancefloor is a ritual place where you free your body and mind, anxiety goes away and you have the opportunity to perhaps reach a deeper state of consciousness,' she told Vogue.

She added that 'of course' she still dances. 'I do it for work, but also in the kitchen, after dinner, with my children... dance has created a trajectory for me, it has allowed me to escape from what I considered a rather prosaic life in the Midwest, to go to New York and pursue my dreams.'

The singer - who is mother to Lourdes, 29, Rocco, 25, David, 20, Mercy, also 20, and 13-year-old twins Stella and Estere adds that her other form of escapism is her tendency to 'disappear' from social media and the online world when she is working on new music.

She said: 'Lately it's been hard because of my record and so many things connected to it. But I do like to take breaks… and disappear. Because that's how you fuel your imagination.'

'You have to have stillness and you have to have days where you're just connecting to nature, my children, my horses.'

The Ray of Light singer also slammed the use of artificial intelligence, and said she believes there is too much pressure on musicians to have an online following rather than focusing on their work.

She told Vogue: 'Once you were around painters and musicians and dancers and artists in one place and working from a very pure place for each other. I value that experience a lot.'

'Nowadays you don't do that anymore. Now to have a record deal you think about how many followers you have.

'That's why in Bring Your Love I say, 'Don't try to distract me with numbers'. For me it started not thinking about the charts, the streaming numbers.

'Algorithms and artificial intelligence are the opposite of taking risks and to me that is the opposite of making art.'
