Rolls-Royce has unleashed its most powerful car ever – the new second generation of its first electric vehicle: Spectre II.
The British luxury car firm's new two-door, four-seater Spectre fastback coupé models offer greater power, longer range and more options for bespoke customisation, and represent a continuation of the firm's 'relentless pursuit of perfection', said the British luxury car company.
The enhanced, top-of-the-range Black Badge version of the new Spectre Series II EV fastback develops 680hp – equivalent to nearly seven Ford Fiestas – and enough to propel it from rest to 60mph in just 4.1 seconds.
'Black Badge Spectre Series II becomes the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever created,' noted the firm, which employs more than 2,500 people at its expanding boutique factory on the Goodwood Estate near Chichester in West Sussex.
It also benefits from faster charging times than the model it replaces.
By contrast, its sibling standard second-generation Spectre Series II model – developing 601hp (442kW) – manages the sprint from rest to 60mph in 4.4 seconds, some 0.3 seconds slower. Times for 0–62mph are 4.3 and 4.5 seconds respectively. Riding on 23-inch alloy wheels, top speed is governed at 155mph.
The new Black Badge Spectre Series II is the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever created
Prices for the new Spectre Series II start from around £336,000 (including VAT), while the Black Badge version starts from around £390,000 (inc VAT).
However, with customers routinely adding personalised extras and bespoke touches, actual sums paid typically start closer to £400,000.
Rolls-Royce said its new second-generation Spectre – launched four years after the original – takes an already 'landmark' motor car and elevates it further.
Re-engineered and updated battery cell technology has extended its range by 18 per cent to 390 miles – enough to get from London to within 10 miles of Edinburgh on one charge – while reducing charging times by 14 per cent.
Power output on the standard Spectre Series II now reaches 601hp (442kW), while torque, or 'pulling power', rises to 1,015Nm.
But Black Badge Series II offers nearly 80hp of additional power at 680hp (500kW), delivered through the car's Infinity Mode booster, with up to 1,100Nm of torque, or 'pulling power', available in Spirited Mode – an increase from the standard 1,015Nm.
By contrast, the outgoing first-generation Spectre offers 585hp (430kW) in standard form, with the Black Badge version increasing that to 650hp (485kW) and a range of up to 329 miles.
Acceleration figures remain broadly similar, as do prices, with the current range starting from around £330,000.
Rolls-Royce – the legendary British marque owned for a quarter of a century by German car giant BMW – says the new second-generation revamp offers 'a suite of technical and creative enhancements to the marque's landmark super-coupé'.
Rolls-Royce said its engineers at Goodwood have recalibrated the motor car's silent, zero-emissions drivetrain to deliver even greater immediacy and control, strengthening Black Badge Spectre's standing as 'the most powerful Rolls-Royce in history'.

Key changes inside and out include newly crafted interior illuminations, a wider choice of bespoke options to support 'increasingly ambitious commissions', an expanded palette of materials, and striking exterior treatments designed to sharpen Spectre's character.
Upgrades include Iced Black exterior detailing introduced for Black Badge Spectre Series II, a new clock design drawing on aviation instruments housed within a Clock Cabinet, and a new bespoke bamboo-based interior trim called Duality Twill, as well as Placed Perforation leather.
For the brooding Black Badge Spectre Series II, there's new Iced Black exterior detailing applied to the exterior – including the grille surround and bumper inserts. An open-spoke wheel design places emphasis on the motor car's powerful braking hardware.
A new 23-inch forged alloy wheel design reflects light from every angle. Each wheel is hand-finished for up to six hours.
Charging to 80 per cent on a powerful 250kW DC charger takes 28 minutes.
That increases to 107 minutes on a 50kW DC charger, while a full 100 per cent charge on a 22kW AC charger takes five hours and 45 minutes.
Rolls-Royce said that last year (2025), Spectre retained its position as the marque's second best-selling model globally.
Booming bespoke
Demand for Bespoke commissions on Spectre is surpassed only by the firm's flagship Phantom.
Some clients request more than 20 individual Bespoke elements in their motor car.
In response to increasing demand for highly ambitious and expressive commissions, Rolls-Royce's Private Offices offer a new suite of crafted elements, materials and finishes for Spectre.
A new solid exterior finish called Ethereal Blue has also been developed for Spectre Series II.

Keeping trim
The new Duality Twill interior trim option is a contemporary rayon fabric made from bamboo.
It is inspired by the extensive bamboo grove in Le Jardin des Méditerranées on France's Côte d'Azur, which neighbours Sir Henry Royce's former winter home, Villa Mimosa.
The twill textile is embroidered with an artistic graphic based on the two interlinked 'R' initials of the marque's founders, reflecting a nautical influence reminiscent of interweaving rope lines found on sailing yachts.
The Duality Twill interior can incorporate up to 2.6 million stitches and 10 miles of thread, requiring up to 25 hours to construct.
It is available in Lilac, Chocolate, Black and Sage.
Clients can select from more than 50 different thread colours for the embroidered elements
Patterned perforations
Wealthy customers can also now choose Placed Perforation leather, in which precision-cut patterns create unique artworks.
For its debut in Spectre, designers created a pattern inspired by the shifting silhouettes cast by clouds in moonlight.
Spanning the shoulder and headrest areas of the front and rear seats, it comprises 78,138 perforations in three different sizes: 0.8mm, 1.0mm and 1.2mm.
Rolls-Royce said: 'If the perforations are extended to the illuminated door option, the pattern subtly disperses as it approaches each light source, creating a soft, atmospheric diffusion effect reminiscent of starlight emerging through shifting night skies.'
There is also a distinctive new high-gloss Brindled Walnut veneer.
Time Travel
The interior panel and Clock Gallery now span the entire width of the fascia and are joined by a new illuminated artwork composed of 8,108 pixel-like illuminations that appear to flow across the surface.
Rolls-Royce said: 'The design draws inspiration from the shifting mist that settles over the woodlands of the South Downs, which rise beyond the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood.'
A new timepiece takes inspiration from precision aviation instruments, prioritising absolute legibility.
The dial features cast metal hands and a pared-back graphic treatment.
As well as housing a new timepiece, the inset vitrine glass casing showcases an up-lit Spirit of Ecstasy figurine crafted from solid stainless steel.
It might be a big EV but charging to 80% on a powerful 250kW DC charger takes only 28 minutes

Customer feedback - the power of seven
To inform Spectre Series II development, Rolls-Royce said its specialists mapped how clients live with their Spectre – which is typically the second Rolls-Royce in a seven-car garage.
It is driven extensively, with an average annual mileage of around 4,000 miles, charged almost exclusively at home, and most often driven solo as a 'daily' motor car: 'One European client has travelled more than 30,000 miles in the two years since taking delivery – more than three times the average annual mileage typically recorded by a Rolls-Royce.'
A US collector based in Los Angeles, driving the short journey from their residence at the top of a hill to their garage below, arrives with more range than at the start thanks to regenerative braking.
One couple ordered a bespoke Starlight Headliner configured with the star constellations as they appeared on the day they first met, while another requested wooden marquetry of a cherished family dog named Bailey.
A Korean client is creating a gallery space within their residence to display their Spectre as a work of art.
