It's that time of the year again - the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it's sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.

Here are today's latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team...

Tottenham continue Savinho pursuit

Tottenham remain in discussions over the final details of a deal for Manchester City winger Savinho.

As Daily Mail Sport revealed in May, Tottenham resurrected their interest early this summer and are looking to finalise a deal for around £65million.

The 22-year-old Brazilian missed out on selection for the World Cup after an indifferent season at City where he made 36 appearances and scored four goals.

Cherries star departs

Bournemouth have confirmed Alex Jimenez's move to Fiorentina on a season-long loan.

The deal includes an option to buy for nearly £17m.

Bournemouth retain a 30 per cent sell-on clause if the move becomes permanent.

Jimenez is suspended from playing in this country as he is the subject of an ongoing FA investigation.

Coventry sign £17m Amenda from Frankfurt

Coventry City have confirmed Swiss international defender Aurele Amenda has joined from Eintracht Frankfurt on a four-year contract for a £17million fee.

Ipswich Town have joined West Ham by expressing interest in Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu.

The 22-year-old was at the World Cup with Ghana and is expected to leave Leicester this summer after their relegation to League One.

Hull City are in talks to bring in former Trabzonspor chief scout Eren Mert to their recruitment team. They are already in the process of bringing in former Fenerbahce assistant sport director Okan Ozkan as replacement for sport director Jared Dublin.

Palace eye Augsburg's Matsima

Crystal Palace have asked about 6ft 4ins centre-back Chrislain Matsima from Augsburg. The 24-year-old has represented France at the Olympics and is one of a number of central defenders on the Palace's shortlist.

Palace are awaiting a £50m plus bid from Chelsea for Maxence Lacroix who had also attracted tentative interest from Arsenal and Real Madrid.

Arsenal agree £34m Tzolis deal

Arsenal have agreed a £34million deal with Bruges for Christos Tzolis.

Bruges sources have confirmed the deal is being finalised for the 24-year-old Greece international.

Christos Tzolis played against Arsenal in the Champions League last season

Arsenal accelerated the talks after Leandro Trossard completed his £17m move to Besiktas. They still intend to sign more attacking players this summer.

Tzolis was previously a target for Crystal Palace.

Magpies hunt Premier League goalkeepers

Newcastle United are in talks over Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth and are continuing discussions over a move for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.

Newcastle want one of the two to compete as their new number one.

Rushworth was on loan at Coventry City last season and they have already had two offers over £20million rejected for the 25-year-old who is keen to carry on playing regular first team football.

Newcastle have a long-held interest in Trafford. They have tried twice to sign the England international and Daily Mail Sport reported in April that he was back on the agenda as their top option.

Manchester City and England goalkeeper James Trafford remains a major target for Newcastle

However, Trafford, as deputy to Gianluigi Donnarumma at Manchester City, is more expensive at around £30million and that makes his potential purchase slightly more difficult.

Newcastle have already signed 20-year-old France prospect Ewen Jaouen for £20m and have 34-year-old Nick Pope as their current number one but the latter could leave once they land their latest target.

The club are eager to start getting signings over the line after a disappointing window missing out on Victor Munoz to Liverpool and Johan Manzambi to Aston Villa.

They have pocketed £85m from Spurs for Sandro Tonali and are so far resisting Arsenal overtures for Bruno Guimaraes.

Como keen on Chalobah

Como are to hold further talks with Chelsea over a prospective deal for Trevoh Chalobah.

The centre back has been part of England's squad at the World Cup but can leave for around £35million.

Como have had two proposals rejected so far but will try again to agree on the 27-year-old as Inter Milan wait in the background.

Como president Mirwan Suwarso told Tuttosport in Italy about planned negotiations and Inter's interest.

Chelsea and England defender Trevoh Chalobah is subject to interest from Italian side Como

Suwarso revealed a discussion with Inter Milan chairman Giuseppe Marotta and said: 'We’ve been the subject of media reports about us competing with another Italian team for a British player. I said, ''You know what? Why don’t I call the president of the other team and ask him, Do you want him? If you want him, go ahead, we’ll back out. But if you buy him, give me one of your players.''

'And he said, ''Thanks for the call. I appreciate it, we’ll let you know by the end of the day. If we don’t go ahead, these are the other objectives we were pursuing. We’re happy to share them with you.'' So, for me, this type of relationship is beneficial for both clubs; it helps us all grow.'

Inter want two centre backs and have also discussed free agent John Stones and Tottenham pair Cristian Romero and Djed Spence, as previously reported by Daily Mail Sport.

Forest prepared to go again on Bergvall

Nottingham Forest are preparing a bid worth £45m for Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall after having a £38m offer rejected earlier in the window.

Oliver Glasner's side have identified Bergvall as a replacement for Elliot Anderson and will return with improved structure for the Swede, who is believed to be valued at £50m.

Spurs do not want Bergvall to go but he is keen for regular football.

Leeds making moves

Sassuolu centre back Tarik Muharemovic is due to fly in today to complete a medical and his £34million move to Leeds United.

Personal terms have now also been agreed with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international.

Leeds remain in the market for another centre back and cover at left back, plus a striker, attacking midfielder and goalkeepers.

Talks are ongoing with Southampton for midfielder Shea Charles while they have sold Isaac Schmidt to Young Boys for £2million.

Foxes make Chaplin their man

Leicester City have signed attacking midfielder Conor Chaplin on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old joins after leaving Ipswich where he made over 450 appearances.

He said: 'Leicester City is a massive club with a brilliant fanbase, which has been obvious to me every time I’ve competed against them.

'I’m extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to play for this great club, and I will give everything, every day, to achieve what we set out to.

'I’ve had some great experiences in my career so far, but there is a lot more I want to achieve.'

Leicester have also confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Alex McCarthy on a free transfer.

The 36-year-old was a free agent after leaving Southampton earlier this summer and has signed a two year deal.

Roma ramp up talks over Summerville

Roma have held further talks over a deal for West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville.

The Italian side have also been talking to Chelsea about Alejandro Garnacho but on a loan with obligation.

Summerville is valued around £45-50million and had been waiting on Manchester United making an offer but that hinges on Marcus Rashford leaving.

As it stands, the England international could be re-integrated into the United squad. Despite interest from Fenerbahce, Rashford has no interest in going to Turkey at this stage.

Other clubs remain attentive to Summerville's situation as talks continue. West Ham are also anticipating offers for defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

Villa swoop for Gomes

Aston Villa have stepped in for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes.

The 25-year-old is leaving Wolves' training camp in Portugal to finalise a move worth around £38million.

Joao Gomes was one of Wolves' best players last season - despite the club suffering relegation to the Championship

The Brazilian international had been set for a move to Atletico Madrid but that stalled last month as they switched to other targets.

He has said his goodbyes to teammates and is now expected to undergo a medical at Villa after talks between the clubs accelerated.

Gomes joined Wolves from Flamengo in the summer of 2023, signing a five-and-a-half-year contract at Molineux. During his time at the club, he made 130 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing six assists.

Meanwhile, Villa hope to complete the signing of Johan Manzambi from Freiburg for a club record deal worth around £54m. The Swiss international is due to fly in today for his medical.

Unai Emery's side have also added Joao Palhinha to their list of midfield options.

The 31-year-old, who was on loan at Tottenham last season and scored the goal that kept them up, can leave Bayern Munich who want around £20million.

Coppola crossing the Channel

Brighton have confirmed Italian defender Diego Coppola has joined Liam Rosenior's Paris FC in a permanent move.

The centre back leaves for around £17million after making just nine appearances at Brighton.

Coppola spent the second half of last season on loan at the French club, playing 14 times.

Villa eye former Spurs loanee Palhinha

Aston Villa have added Joao Palhinha to their list of midfield options.

The 31-year-old, who was on loan at Tottenham last season and scored the goal that kept them up, can leave Bayern Munich who want around £20million.

Palhinha had interest from Saudi Arabia but is wanted by Benfica and Sporting Lisbon. A reunion with Marco Silva at Benfica was anticipated after a return to Spurs was ruled out but cost and the project will be key.

Villa's return to Champions League football attracts and they need cover in midfield.

Robins offer £4m for widely-sought Tolaj

Bristol City are in talks to sign prolific Plymouth Argyle striker Lorent Tolaj.

The Swiss-born forward scored 21 goals last season and has been attracting enquiries from across the UK and abroad.

Ambitious City are offering around £4million plus add-ons and hope to wrap up the deal imminently.

They remain in talks to add Dom Ballard also from Leyton Orient, who scored 23 goals last season and was named League One player of the year, as they look to form a new dynamic frontline.
