Charlie Kirk’s family has filed a request demanding that recorded testimony from Tyler Robinson’s transgender lover be played in full today after a judge ruled a portion of it could be redacted.
‘To receive evidence in a manner shielded from those seated in the courtroom - as happened today - is not transparency,’ the family said in the filing.
‘And in the absence of transparency, speculation and conspiracy theories related to the tragic assassination of Mr. Kirk will continue to proliferate in the public domain, breeding doubt and distrust in the judicial system. This is not what anyone should want.’
Kirk’s widow, Erika, and his parents, Robert and Kathryn, have been in the courtroom every day for the evidence hearing.
Judge Tony Graf ruled on Wednesday that video from Robinson’s lover and roommate, Lance Twiggs, could be published with approximately 15 minutes of redactions, which the prosecution said they will edit and play in court on Thursday.
A dramatic weeklong evidence hearing has been underway for Robinson, 23, who faces the death penalty if he is convicted of murdering Kirk in front of thousands of people at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.
Twiggs' prerecorded testimony is one of the most highly anticipated pieces of evidence, as prosecutors say Robinson turned himself in after he confessed to his lover.
Robinson has not entered a plea in the case. His attorneys have not commented on his guilt or innocence.

Charlie Kirk's family pushes back on redactions
A lawyer for the Kirk family filed a request demanding that all the evidence presented during Tyler Robinson’s pre-trial hearing be played in full and made available to the public.
‘For ten months, the Victim’s Family has waited for this preliminary hearing. Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, and his grieving parents traveled to this courtroom for one reason: to be present at these proceedings and to bear witness to the evidence concerning the death of their husband and son,’ the court document, which was filed by a lawyer representing Kirk's widow and parents, stated.
‘At certain points throughout the preliminary hearing, the Kirk family sat in the room while evidence was admitted but not presented for their viewing. They were present in body yet denied the very thing their presence was meant to secure: their ability to meaningfully observe the preliminary hearing.’
The filing continued, ‘The Victim’s Family’s position is simple. At a minimum, every exhibit entered into evidence during the preliminary hearing must be visible to every person lawfully present in the
courtroom.
‘To receive evidence in a manner shielded from those seated in the courtroom - as happened today - is not transparency. And in the absence of transparency, speculation and conspiracy theories related to the tragic assassination of Mr. Kirk will continue to proliferate in
the public domain, breeding doubt and distrust in the judicial system. This is not what anyone should want.’
It comes after the judge ruled on Wednesday that video from Tyler Robinson’s transgender lover could be played in court with redactions.
The prosecution agreed to make the edits and said it plans to play the video in court on Thursday.
Kirk’s widow, Erika, and his parents, Robert and Kathryn, have been at court every day for the evidence hearing.

Harrowing footage that made tearful Erika flee Charlie Kirk's assassination trial
It had all the elements of a modern-day tragedy: the grieving widow quietly dabbing away tears with a white tissue, the president's son making a surprise appearance with his glamorous new wife, and a diminutive accused killer at the center of it all.
But the second day of the preliminary hearing over Charlie Kirk's 2025 murder also had elements of a farce: an afternoon of testimony so utterly boring, four women who had camped out overnight to get courtroom seats quietly slipped away after just an hour.

Instead, all his comments are expected to be relayed to the court in bombshell video tapes, recorded statements or transcripts.

FBI expert stuns Tyler Robinson courtroom by revealing DNA bombshell that's a '95 percent match'
An FBI analyst stunned the pre-trial hearing for Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, as she revealed a '95 percent DNA match' between the suspect and a towel wrapped around the murder weapon.
Prosecutors produced testimony on Tuesday evening from Amanda Bakker and Utah State Bureau of Investigation sergeant Jennifer Faumuina over items seized from the scene of the killing.
Investigators say they found a rifle used to shoot Kirk wrapped in a towel in a wooded area nearby, as well as a screwdriver left on the roof of the building where the fatal shot was taken from.
In a lengthy grilling from prosecutors and the defense, Bakker said the towel and tool contained DNA from two sources - determined to be from Robinson and his transgender roommate and lover, Lance Twiggs.
