Emmerdale and Coronation Street are set to face yet another schedule disruption this coming week. Due to the World Cup semi-final clash between Spain and France, both soaps have been axed from ITV's schedule on Tuesday (July 14), leaving fans waiting a little longer to catch up with life in the Dales and on the cobbles.

Both soaps ordinarily air 30-minute episodes on weekday evenings, with Emmerdale broadcast at 8pm and Corrie following at 8.30pm. However, it has now been confirmed that both episodes will be pushed back to Wednesday (15 July), with Emmerdale airing at 8pm and Corrie moving to 9pm. On Tuesday, ITV will instead broadcast the Spain vs France match from 7pm, while the BBC will be covering England's semi-final showdown with Argentina on Wednesday.

The scheduling news comes amid reports that long-serving Emmerdale cast member Jack Downham is preparing to depart the soap.

The actor, who has portrayed Noah Dingle since the age of six, is understood to be leaving the ITV favourite after an impressive 17 years on screen, reports Daily Star.

He will become the latest member of the Dingle family to be written out of the show as part of ongoing cost-cutting measures. According to The Sun, Downham has already completed his final scenes and is expected to make his on-screen exit within the coming weeks.

A source told the publication that Jack is "looking at the positives though and is hopeful about future opportunities."

Speaking to Inside Soap in 2021, Jack reflected on his experience of growing up in the public eye. "I've loved it," he explained at the time.

"It's quite strange to be around adults all the time, but I think it's helped me mature in a lot of ways.

"On the other hand, I've missed out on my fair share of events and things with friends my own age, but it's all part and parcel of having such a great opportunity."

He added: "The constant drama is a great part of it. There's always something going on. Plus, everyone who plays a part in the Dingle family is so nice to work with.

"I've definitely learnt so much from Emma (Atkins) and she's always looked after me."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX and Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
