It's that time of the year again - the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it's sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.

Here are today's latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team...

Sassuolo say Leeds are close to Tarik

Sassuolo say talks are advancing with Leeds United over a £34m deal for centre back Tarik Muharemovic.

Leeds have maintained negotiations were not as developed but the Italians say they are close to an agreement for the 23-year-old Bosnia international.

Juventus will receive 50percent of any fee so stand to receive £17m.

Tarik Muharemovic was on the end of this tackle from Folarin Balogun - for which the USA forward received a red card for but saw his ban suspended after Donald Trump intervened

Arsenal still in for Alvarez

Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez remains an option for Arsenal.

The Argentina forward would prefer to join Barcelona if they can reach agreement with Atletico but that relationship remains strained.

Arsenal are monitoring developments in case the opportunity to sign the 26-year-old opens up. Atletico have dismissed offers of £100m.

Two suitors for Rangers' Souttar

Leicester City and Sheffield United are showing interest in Rangers defender John Souttar.

The 29-year-old signed a new one-year deal at Rangers in February but did not travel to the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain, with Brazilian striker Danilo also staying at home.

John Souttar was one of three Rangers players at the World Cup with Scotland

Leeds want another keeper with Torino keen on Perri

Torino are pushing to sign Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri but need the Elland Road side to sign another keeper first.

Leeds have seen out-of-contract Illan Meslier join Arsenal and Karl Darlow join Manchester United.

They have handed a new deal to Alex Cairns but are continuing to look for a new No1. Talks have taken place with Parma for Zion Suzuki but other options are also being explored.

Leeds remain in talks with Sassuolo over centre back Tarik Muharemovic and Southampton over Shea Charles. But, again, they have alternatives.

Tielemans proud to join United

Manchester United's midfield overhaul has moved on with the £35million signing of Youri Tielemans. The 29-year-old Belgian, who has joined from Aston Villa after his release clause was triggered, has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Tielemans said: 'It's hard to describe just how proud I am to join Manchester United.

'Signing for such a special club feels incredible, it is the culmination of years of dedication since I first fell in love with football.'

Arsenal ready for Tzolis bid after Trossard exit

Bruges are anticipating a bid from Arsenal for Christos Tzolis now that Leandro Trossard is confirmed as heading to Besiktas.

The Greece forward is keen on the move after seeing previous offers from the Premier League rejected, notably Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old former Norwich winger also has interest from elsewhere but is set on Arsenal if they can agree a fee.

Aberdeen head Feeney interest

Aberdeen head a list of clubs interested in Carlisle defender Morgan Feeney, 27, the club’s captain and player of the year signed by former boss Mark Hughes who has one year left on his contract.

Trossard completes £17m move to Turkey

Leandro Trossard has joined Besiktas from Arsenal in a deal worth £17million

Leandro Trossard has joined Besiktas from Arsenal in a deal worth £17m.

The Belgian winger departs the Premier League champions in a deal worth an initial £15.3m plus £1.7m in add-ons.

Trossard played a crucial role for Mikel Arteta playing 174 times in three-and-a-half years, scoring 36 goals.

During Arsenal's title-winning campaign last term, Trossard scored eight goals and registered 11 assists in 50 matches in all competitions.

Arsenal have been talking to Bruges over a deal for Christos Tzolis among other targets.

Leeds United are bringing in Cardiff City head analyst Matthew Jenkins who had been at the club for eight years.

City contemplating Bouaddi move

Manchester City are continuing to assess the figures being demanded by Lille for midfield prodigy Ayyoub Bouaddi.

As Daily Mail Sport have reported, City have retained a long-standing interest in the teenage Morocco international and want to bring in another midfielder alongside Elliot Anderson with long-term concerns over Rodri, who has still to agree a new contract.

Nico Gonzalez could be sold while Tijjani Reijnders, who had tentative interest from Atletico Madrid, could also go.

Bouaddi's performances have seen his value rise above £60m which was considered his asking price before the World Cup.

Lille ideally wanted him to stay another season on loan as part of the deal but negotiations are open.

Meanwhile, Stade Brestois are among clubs showing interest in City defender Juma Bah who was on loan at Nice last season.

The 20-year-old, 6ft 5ins centre back could be among the players figuring in a showcase game at City today.

Darlow deal done

Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

The Wales international joins on a free transfer after his contract expired at Leeds.

Darlow finished last season as Leeds' number one and kept five clean sheets. They wanted to re-sign him while Everton and Tottenham also held talks.

Bristol City hope for Ballard compromise

Bristol City are working to find a compromise with Leyton Orient over a fee for striker Dom Ballard.

The 21-year-old, who scored 23 goals in League One last season, is set on a move to Ashton Gate but so far they have been unable to agree a deal with Orient who have been pushing for over £5million.

Southampton are also due sell-on percentage for the striker who, at the 2026 EFL Awards, was named in the League One Team of the Season, Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season.

Mason Greenwood set for Turkey

Mason Greenwood is to be confirmed as a new Fenerbahce player in a £34million deal

Mason Greenwood is to be confirmed as a new Fenerbahce player after they agreed a permanent deal with Marseille of around £34million.

Manchester United are due 40 per cent of the overall fee, although 20 per cent of that will go to Getafe, who took Greenwood on loan for the 2023-24 season.

As previously reported, that should work out around £10.2million.

Villa defender heading for Spain loan spell

Aston Villa right back Andres Garcia is closing on a loan move to Getafe.

The 23-year-old joined Villa from Levante 18 months ago in a £6million deal but made only 8 appearances last season.

Villa are looking to juggle a number of transfers this window to meet UEFA financial requirements.

They still want to strengthen after agreeing to sign Johan Manzambi from Freiburg but are losing Youri Tielemans to Manchester United for £36m and Lucas Digne to Paris St Germain for £8.5m.

There is also interest around Ollie Watkins and while they don't want to lose Morgan Rogers, offers from Arsenal are anticipated.

Sunderland land Thomas Menuier

Sunderland are signing Thomas Meunier on a two year contract.

The Belgium international, who was part of their World Cup squad, is a free agent after leaving Lille and has been talking to Valencia.

Hull City had also opened discussions with the 34-year-old right back but he has travelled to the North East this morning to complete a medical and sign for Sunderland.

Roma pressing for Garnacho

Roma are continuing to press for Chelsea misfit Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine has been granted permission to seek a new club and is not in Xabi Alonso's plans.

Chelsea want £40m and a permanent sale as Manchester United also retain a sell-on clause.

Roma are continuing to press for Chelsea misfit Alejandro Garnacho

Roma enquired a week ago and their latest proposal is for an initial loan with an option to buy for around £30m. It would become an obligation if certain conditions are met and the loan would carry a fee of £4.3m.

Chelsea maintain they want a guaranteed sale.

Chelsea are also looking to move on Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile and Filip Jorgensen. Mamadou Sarr could leave on loan amid Premier League interest.

Vuskovic leaves Spurs for Brighton

Luka Vuskovic has completed his move from Tottenham to Brighton for £46million plus £4m achievable add-ons.

Spurs have secured a 20 per cent sell-on clause for the Croatia international and buy-back matching rights.

Vuskovic and his representatives made clear his desire to play regular first team football in the season ahead and did not want another loan.

The 19-year-old centre half has had three separate loans since Spurs struck a deal to sign him from Hajduk Split for £12m.

Last season at Hamburg was a huge success but Roberto De Zerbi was unable to offer the guarantee of regular first team football at Spurs.

De Zerbi has reinforced in central defence with Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, who they signed from Brighton for £52m.

So, Spurs will bank a huge profit on a young player who never made a competitive appearance for them and whose wages they have never paid.

Only Harry Kane and Kyle Walker have been sold by Spurs for bigger fees in the last 10 years.
