Noah Wyle has teased a major shake-up for The Pitt's hotly-anticipated third season, after the show landed a massive 25 Emmy nominations.

The former ER star, 55, who plays Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch, revealed that the acclaimed medical drama has changed up their screenwriting and filming format compared to the first two seasons.

Filming is currently underway for season three, and the premiere is not expected until early next year.

However, the television veteran discussed one of the major concepts and explained how the upcoming season will stray away from what they had previously done so far.

In a new interview, Wyle detailed how the next season is intended to be based on the effects of real-life events.

This also takes place after The Pitt announced a change in the cast lineup earlier this year amid feud rumors.

'Up until now, we've plotted our show almost in real time when people are watching,' Wyle told Deadline on Wednesday.

'We've written the shows eight months before we air, but we've written them to take place in the time and place in which they are being watched this season,' he continued about seasons one and two.

'We didn't do that this season,' he said about season three, which he and his remaining costars are currently filming.

'What we're depicting is Thursday, November 12, 2026, and it will be aired in January of 2027,' Wyle continued.

He added: 'So we will be talking about where we've just been for the first time, and not where we're going.'

Rather than planning far in advance about future events for the air date, he said the writer's room are putting together stories about the current state of United States now for the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center (PTMC) set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to air next year.

Wyle further explained the decision was made 'because there's going to be a lot of anticipation and fear and preparation going into January and the executive of the Big Beautiful Bill that will have a lot of ramifications in Americans' lives.'

This comes just weeks after production for season three kicked off amid cast shakeups

'We wanted to focus on what those last couple of months of the year are going to be like,' he continued about the bill that will result in drastic cuts to health care, food assistance, student loans and energy programs to cover tax cuts.

He noted that the next season will center around 'what most people are going to have to do to prepare themselves for a very harsh reality in the next seven to eight years, to underscore the point of how desperate this particular moment in time is.'

This comes after the medical drama received a total of 25 Emmy nods after the nominations for television's best of the past year were announced on Wednesday.

The series — to many fans' surprise — dominated the Emmy nominations and is, perhaps, set to sweep the award show scheduled for September 14 later this year.

Several of the nominations include Best Drama Series and Lead Actor in a Drama Series nod for Wyle.

Earlier this year, a couple of changes to season three were already revealed - especially Supriya Ganesh's surprise exit; pictured from left to right: Gerran Howell and Supriya Ganesh

Wyle, an experienced actor in portraying the world of healthcare, previously earned five consecutive Emmy nods and also three Golden Globe nominations for starring as Dr. John Carter in ER.

Production on the upcoming season kicked off last month, and it is anticipated to premiere on HBO in early 2027.

Earlier this year, a couple of changes to season three were already revealed.

While season two was airing, viewers learned that Supriya Ganesh would be written out of the next season and would be exiting the show entirely.

And just shortly after season two concluded in April, it was revealed that Ayesha Harris was promoted to a series regular.
