Little Mix's Jesy Nelson breaks down as she reveals emergency surgery to save unborn twins

Pregnant Jesy Nelson is set to undergo an emergency procedure to give her unborn twins the “best chance of survival”. The 33-year-old singer and her 26-year-old partner Zion Foster have been keeping their followers updated about her pregnancy journey after revealing earlier this year that they were expecting twins.

The singer recently disclosed she was facing “complications" due to carrying identical twins, hinting at a pre-stage twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). In an emotional Instagram video message shared with fans on Saturday afternoon, the Little Mix star announced that she's awaiting a crucial procedure aimed at ensuring the survival of her babies. The emotional footage, captured in the hospital, showed Zion by her side supporting her. Addressing her followers, Jesy said: “Hey guys, so we are just giving you an update on our situation. So I've been feeling a bit poorly the past few days.

"Been having a few of the symptoms that I need to watch out for - which is like my belly tightening, struggle breathing. So today we came into the hospital to just have a check-up basically. Just in case.

"And unfortunately, the symptoms have got worse, so we now have to have ... they have to perform the procedure, which is obviously not what we wanted to happen."

Jesy elaborated: "But it's necessary because it's gonna give our babies like the best chance of surviving. So yeah, we're just waiting to go in. And we're just hoping and praying for the best really. I feel gutted. I feel absolutely gutted because I really was hoping that we wouldn't even be in this position," reports the Mirror.

Tears streamed down Jesy’s face as her supportive partner Zion Foster consoled her with comforting words: "They're doing it to give us the best chance. Our babies the best chance."

Jesy continued: "Yeah, like that's why they do this procedure. So that it literally gives you the best chance of your baby surviving but it's obviously just really scary cause there's so many things that can happen."

In conclusion of the heartfelt video, Jesy reached out to her fans for support, stating: "We just wanted to update you guys. Keep you in the loop with what's going on. So yeah just pray for us please. Thank you."

A surge of sympathy and encouragement from fans followed the update post from Jesy and Zion shared across both their Instagram profiles with the caption: "TTTS update."

This touching admission came after Jesy and Zion had previously disclosed complications in the pregnancy. In an earlier video this month, Jesy confessed: "So we are having identical twins, which is so exciting. We're just like ... we actually can't believe it. But unfortunately, there are complications that come with having identical ... having identical twins."

Jesy opened up about the challenges of her unique twin pregnancy, explaining: "The type of twins we are having are called Mono/Di twins, and with that, so normally, most twins will have two placentas that they feed off of.

"But when you have Mono/Di twins, that means your twins live off one placenta, which can lead to lots of complications. One of them being one baby might take all the nutrients, the other might. Which is really awful to say, but could lead to both babies dying and at the moment, I am currently pre-stage TTTS, which is twin-to-twin transfusion, and I'm being monitored very closely."

Taking the opportunity to raise awareness on the issue, the star added: "We honestly had no clue that this kinda thing happens when you have twins and we just really wanna raise awareness about this because there's so many people that don't know about this."
