Channel 4's Four in a Bed fans rage over 'mad' price to stay in 'basic' hotel

The latest episode of Channel 4's Four in a Bed has sparked a heated debate among viewers, who were left stunned by the hefty price tag of a one-night stay at a hotel in Cornwall.

In Monday's (3 March) instalment, hosts Emma and Oleg showcased their four-star Newquay Beach Hotel, which they purchased in 2018 and renovated before opening in 2021. The couple welcomed three pairs of guests, including mother-daughter duo Mandy and Ellie, and couples Steve and Mandy, and Amy and Stuart.

As the guests explored the hotel, they were treated to welcome drinks and a surfing lesson on the beach, followed by a traditional English breakfast that impressed everyone.

However, when the price of a one-night stay was revealed, many viewers took to social media to express their shock.

Some fans felt the £240 per night rate was too steep, especially considering the additional £8 parking fee. One viewer tweeted: "Looks basic for £240 a night plus £8 to park their taking the p***," while another commented: "The price of hotels in this country is why I always go abroad #fourinabed." (sic)

One bemused telly watcher wrote: "Some of these prices recently are mad #fourinabed," with another chiming in: "Seriously? High price + breakfast + parking?? It's not the Ritz! #fourinabed", reports Cornwall Live.

However, viewers did praise the hosts' breakfast. One said: "Decent breakfast that, I'll take two please #FourInABed," while a second agreed: "That breakfast looked very lovely #FourInABed."

Meanwhile, Four in a Bed fans expressed their astonishment as contestants inspected toilet brushes upon checking into their rooms.

"Not the toilet brush ffs #FourInABed," exclaimed one dismayed viewer, while another questioned: "Why do they always check the toilet brush holders for gods sake #fourinabed". (sic).

Yet another viewer admitted: "The last thing I'd inspect in a hotel or BnB is the bog brush for the very reason that it has recently been stuffed down a manky bog #fourinabed."

Four in a Bed airs on Channel 4 on weekdays at 5pm
