Good Morning Britain fans react as Piers Morgan returns to show after four years

Good Morning Britain fans were delighted after hearing that Piers Morgan was scheduled to return on Monday's episode. At the start of the show, host Susanna Reid revealed that her former co-anchor Piers Morgan was coming back.
While chatting with Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire, Susanna remarked: "Piers put on Twitter that he was coming in, he mentioned the number of days since he walked out of Good Morning Britain. Has he got a counter at home that is counting up the days since he was last on this programme?" As they noted it had been 1,453 days since Piers' appearance, footage of his famous walkout was shown as Susanna noted: "There's a reminder for anyone where it's not etched on their memory, that particular moment."
Piers tweeted on X about his imminent arrival, sharing a clip of Susanna and Ed on the show: "@GMB looks exciting today! See you soon @susannareid100 - and try not to cry tears of happiness."
The audience quickly responded to Piers' upcoming return. One viewer exclaimed: "I'll watch again now!" Another hoped: "Hopefully a step closer to getting your old job back, GMB has never been the same since you departed."
A third shared: "Let's go so happy," reports Manchester Evening News.
Someone else anticipated: "Sounds like a fun show! Looking forward to it!" An exuberant fan enthused: "I love reunions!" while another simply said: "Excited, looking forward."
Support for Piers Morgan's television return flooded social media, with one fan commenting: "Brilliant, and just at the right time. Good luck, not that you need it."
Another voiced their excitement by stating: "Congrats, Piers! Wishing you a great, successful, and inspiring comeback on ITV! Much appreciation."
Piers made headlines in 2021 when he had a notorious on-air confrontation with weather presenter Alex Beresford. The disagreement reached a boiling point over Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Alex, clearly exasperated with Piers’ constant criticism of Meghan, confronted him: "I think we all need to take a step back and I understand you don't like Meghan Markle, you've made it so clear a number of times on this programme, a number of times."
He continued to challenge Piers on his personal connection with the Duchess: "I understand you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or you had one and she cut you off. She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has and yet you continue to trash her.”
Piers, not having any of it, stood up from his desk and commented: “I’m done with this. See you later. Sorry, I can’t do this." He then left the studio, leaving Susanna to host the remainder of the show solo.
Although Alex was announcing the weather this Monday, it didn't go unnoticed by viewers that he was on location, not in the studio with Piers.
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
